Twisted_Ace
The furthest point from the sea in the British Isles is in the county of Derbyshire, about one mile south-east of a village called Coton-in-the-Elms.

The precise location is: 52ΒΊ 43.6'N, Longitude: 1ΒΊ 37.2'W.

It is 70 miles (113km) from the nearest coastline.

dragondrums
I thought it was 72 miles...It's definitely not 27 though. :-)

loosebrie
It's actually 75 miles.

David S
No. The furthest you can be from the coast in the U.K. is about 70 miles.

Tia

It's definitely more like 70ish.

Veronica Alicia
It's more than double that I believe.
I live in the Midlands and it would take more than an hour of motorway driving to find a coastline.

luke r
Nope thats not true. Try looking at google earth.

That is a gross exaggeration.

This would mean that the island at its widest would be 34miles wide !

It's actually 72miles ! You were nearly right.
