I've been to London several times as a teenager with my friends and several times as an adult. We never had any hint of a problem. I think most problems come when you aren't aware of your surroundings and when you act irresponsibly. This is true of any area, not just London.

I dont find that it is dangerous as long as you mind your own business especially if you are goin past the 'ghetto' area. London is a wicked place to live...South East London is the rougher side

Nicole
no.

soubds like it on the news

dirty little secret
I suppose it's more dangerous than some places because of the nature of the place... but to be fair, you could get shot in a small quaint village by a farmer so i wouldn't worry too much.

?
yeah!! jack the ripper is their.

a man gets knocked down on a street corner in London every 3 minutes. one of these days he's going to get himself killed.

London's a pretty broad term, covering a vast area that of course will have its good bits and its bad bits.

I've lived in London for the last 4 years, and it feels a lot safer than my nice, leafy south Buckinghamshire hometown.

No. Just do not rent in the east end.

In this day and age, with all the terroist activities, there is NO place that is SAFE to live... it is just that some are not as dangerous as others - yet.

Like any urban area, you have your good parts and bad parts. London is about just as dangerous as any other big metropolis. There are safe areas, and areas to be careful while visiting, such as Kings Cross. There is not too much violent crime in London, but there is a lot of theft/pickpocketing and scam artists looking to prey on travelers. Once you live there for a little while, you will know the places to avoid.

Radio Ga Ga 73
It depends on the part of London you decide to live in but don't go to Peckham!
