You will be fine, as long as you don't take your Southern patronising attitude with you....

nogolow
sorry but if you're going to have that attitude then stay away. Every city in the country has bad and good areas it doesn't matter if it's North or South. It is not scary.

David S
Harrogate is a lovely safe town; generally speaking people in Yorkshire are far friendlier than in Hampshire and southern England

How very naive of you!! Harrogate is MUCH MUCH safer than most of Hampshire

dansnan
you have to be tough to live up here or the cold will get you- if the boogy man doesnt!

What are you worried about I lived there for 10 years and had no problems whatsoever. ARe you a WOOSE or WHAT

Von Lipwig
Absolutely terrifying...every other person you meet is a rapist or a murderer. We all carry guns and knives, and can't really speak English...we just mumble and snap.
You should NOT come here - don't leave the safe surrounds of Hampshire (the county where 6 people a week escape from jail) to come to the grim grim north.

Dad's found yer scoo'er
There are places to avoid in most major conurbations such as Moss Side in Manchester but it doesn't mean everywhere North of Leicester is a crime ghetto. Some Harrogate stats are at http://www.findaproperty.com/crimefacts.aspx?edid=03&salerent=0&areaid=1806

You are having us on, aren't you? Harrogate is a VERY upmarket area, and much safer than most of Hants!

red
no!

LadyDJ
You'll be alright as long as you don't wear shoes - we don't have them up here so you may be mugged for them...

... or a coat...

... or trousers...

Oh - and we don't have cars or trains or buses either - so you will struggle to get here.

May as well stay well away

.... eh-up wheres me whippet gone?

Hey, if I can survive visits to see family members, in some of the roughest parts of Birmingham, I'm sure you can survive a visit to Harrogate.I am not streetwise, I live in rural Cornwall.

You might find things are not as bad as you expected them to be, as rough spots occur all over the Country,(including Cornwall, and Hampshire) and just around the corner, things might be entirely different.

grae
safer than london by far.

will be different to a small village but harrogate is a tourist town so it is used to visitors

Rubix Cube
It shouldn't be too bad if you just be careful. Just try and enjoy yourself when you go to Harrogate.

Thanks for the question =)
