"Great Britain" consists of several countries. They include England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
So Both the English and the Welsh are British. |

Unbelievable!
What nationality are some of the people that are answering this question, I find it difficult to believe from the answers that they are indigenous British.
Can't improve on Mushrooms answer. |

Some of these answers are stupid!! You have a few correct ones, so to back up the correct answers I confirm...
The Welsh are British.
The English are British.
The Welsh and the English are from different countries.
To be British you must be from a country within Great Britain - England, Scotland or Wales.
Differences, on the Severn Bridge you have to pay £5.30 to get into Wales, you don't have to pay on the way into England! |

can't believe the twaddle some people post. The first three posters are talking rubbish.
You can be Northern Irish, Welsh, English or Scottish and you would all be British.
We are part of a union and although we still use the names of our original countries (England, Wales etc), we are really all British. |

The Welsh were British before the English were English. |

someone who is British is someone who is from the Island of Great Britain
Great Britain is the island which contains England, Wales and Scotland
Therefore, anyone from England, Scotland, and Wales is British
then you can start to get all PC, and think, well since the Northern irish are part of the UK, are they British. I personally believe they are not British by birth because they are not from the Island of Britain, but they are British Citizens because they are part of the UK. |

You are what you perceive yourself to be. My passport says I'm a citizen of the United Kingdom. I am a Lancastrian by residence, English by birth. Geographically I live within the British Isles, which includes both Irelands. |

British refers to people who live on the island Great Britain.
Welsh refers to people from Wales a country in the United Kingdom
English refers to people from England, a country in the UK
Scots refers to people from Scotland a country in the UK
all 3 countries comprise the UK a Kingdom
or a constitutional Monarchy
Then there is Northern Ireland not on Great Britain
but still considered British. BUT SHOULD BE IRISH
one is still called a British subject if you are Australian or New Zealand.
Canadians were once British subjects as well was HONG KONG AND MANY OTHER PLACES IN THE WORLD . TOO MANY TO MENTION HERE
Yes Quite Rightly ole chap |
