Parts of Tyneside you can buy a whole street for less than the cost of the armoured truck you are going to have to buy to get home or to the shops.

Mr Macadoo
In a box on the street, that's kind of free! Other than that, prob an old mill town in Lancashire.

The North is much cheaper than the South

I can't say I've ever heard of too many places I'd want to live that were also cheap. That said, northern areas seem to be cheaper than southern areas. Guess it depends on what you call cheap and what you think is a suitable area. Try Gumtree.com to compare prices for flats, houses, and shared living arrangements.

sandy
Curtis, what is cheap?

Is a 2 bedroom terrace house under 90,000 cheap? To most of England it is. But the idea of cheap is dependant on wage and outgoings, i.e. what you can afford confortably. So to most people working in England housing is affordable.

Prices vary across the country (yes yuka, I said country) and so do wages, e.g. a one bed flat in Liverpool may be 350 a month and the same in London would be 800 a month, but (another eg) a graphic designer in Liverpool will earn about 8 grand less a year than in London.

It's all relative and 'cheap' has no meaning or influence without the variable of income.
