It's impossible to answer this question in isolation without more information about what job you'll be doing to earn that salary and where you're going to be living.

For example, if that is what they're offering you to be, for example, a lawyer in London, it's extremely low, but if they're offering you that to be a primary teacher in a rural area, it'd be a great deal.

Of course, it also depends on what level of lifestyle you are used to leading and whether you're bringing anyone (partner, children) with you.

Give us a few more details of the offer and we'll be able to evaluate it better for you.

depends where you live

matley_005
yh thats very good you can rent out a nice apartment for like £900 per calander month

BillyB8
not in London but the further away from there you get the better off you'll be.

Yes, that is a good salary. That is more than a lot of people earn.

More than half of the working population would love to be earning £33,000 per year.

Of course, it all depends on what your outgoings are, if you're spending £34,000 per year, then you need to get a better paid job or cut down on your spending.

Generally speaking, £33,000 per year is a well paid job.

To be on minimum wage, and work full time (say 9-5 Mon-Fri) is approximately 8,500 a year.

Basic graduate or sandwich year student jobs go for 12-14,000 a year.

So 33,000 is a nice salary!

reardwen
It depends what you're used to, and what you are being paid to do.

It's a little above the mean average income, but it won't buy you a home in the stockbroker belt.

Your just showing off now, aren't you??

DRJ21
Yeah, I think thats a good wage, and I could easily live on that amount of money.

33,000 is well paid, though not an extremely high wage. Some examples of pay in this area

Police Constable (highest band)
Police Seargeant (lowest band)
Teacher (Most highly qualified - Inner London Rate)
Head Teacher (Principal) (Least qualified - general country rate)
Highly Qualified Nurse
Junior Doctor

Yes it is good unless you have 3-4 kids and you are the only one working with very demanding wife and kids then you are doomed already... even £100.000 won't save you!!!!

KellsEnder
Yes, £33,000 pa is a very good wage, well above the UK average. And it's not quite high enough for the tax man to well and truly rape you over.

nectar_pepsi

Yes it's very good. There will always be prats like marmalade and winkywanker telling you it's not good, but to most people living in the real world, it is very respectable.

No £34,000

I should be doing something else
Rating
Yes it is the UK average salary is £22,000 so you are well above that.

craigaio
erm YES very!
And might I state that a teacher here does not get 33000 per year....you have to teach for many years and have a high superior position to get such a high wage. A teacher´s first year is 20000 a year outside of london...that's after 4 years of university studies...so imagine!
At the end of the day, it all depends on whether you are living in london or not.
Outside of london, 33000 is a very good wage....and even in london it's not bad!

It's a matter of relative values. For example, I can throw £33,000 into a canal one day, and barely notice it's absence from my accounts. But to a vagrant on the street, it is a life changing sum.
So, it depends on what you intend to use it for old chap.

no its ****.

its the average but my father ( in no it sounds wierd)

earns over 15 x that

its not that great as private school is over 20 grand a year

yet tax takes half my dads earnings away
