Jeered on a Bus in Brixton- What would you Do? |
Make no mistake. The underclass hatred of Jews and toffs is buoyed by recent world events and atrocities.
I was riding on a bus in Brixton over the weekend when a gang of blacks got on. One didn`t pay his fare. He said he was only going one stop. As he was no more than age 16, I suggested that he walk.
This started a tirade of such proportions I almost had a heart attack. (I am after all age 65)
He started on my hair and accent and then proceeded to mock my face and clothes. I was humiliated.
One little slapper, Caucasian, also present, loved it and started to join in.
What would you have done or what should you do? Should bus drivers be empowered to stop the bus when this occurs and ring for the police??

If there were more people like you in London, perhaps these little rats wouldn't behave the way they did. That is one of the differences between London and other European cities. People in other countries would not stand for that behaviour and would have stood up to them like you did. Londoners only care about themselves, and as an individual you are powerless unless others assist you.
I would have got off the bus, then made a note of the number plate on it and called the police.
To The Elegant Epicure: Your answer implies that it is acceptable for these people to get away with bad behaviour. People like you are the cause of problems in our society. |

i would call for back up but seriously. most problems are caused by black teenagers.
if i was there, i would beat all of them up until they break their bones.
next time, just call the police. or just not let them in. |

I was driving in Ladbroke Grove last week when one youth was chasing another shouting 'help he's stolen my phone'. When I stopped to help I was told they were only joking and that if they hadn't been I would now be in trouble.
To be honest, I could be in some altercation or other every other day driving in London. I think it is important not to take it personally. They don't know you personally, they don't care who it is. Their actions reflect on them and they will have to live with the consequences of their attitudes which will affect their work etc. And then one day they will be old on the bus and it will happen to them.

Just call the fuzz let them deal with it. On no account ever approach a gang of teens - they have knives and some even have guns and will use same.
Take care. |

My advice is to stick your head in a newspaper - or stare out the window.... its sad to say - but its best to look the other way... if you value your safety these days when out & about... the Police will do heehaw anyway & these bad wee b'stards will only get a mere slap on the wrists ...and you will be branded an old racist . |

That is disgusting!
They have to have someone they can look down on so that they can justify their own miserable existence don't they?!
I am so sorry to hear what happened to you.
Of course the bus driver should stop the bus and make that call.Everyone on the bus should have stood up for you. They are just as guilty when they stay silent.
Not to be afraid is what we all need to learn from the horrible events that are happening these days.
Stay strong and thank you for understanding that not everyone is like that. |

Sorry, but why did you feel the need to say anything in the first place? That potential conflict was between the kid and the bus driver, no one else.
In an area like that and with a 'gang' present, what did you think would happen? That he would thank you for your advice and walk?
As someone else said, it's best to keep yourself to yourself. It doesn't make you a coward - it just makes you smart and safe.
Did you think about what might have happened if he had had a gun or a knife or something? They could have followed you off the bus and that would have been the end of you.
Bus drivers don't have to do anything. They're just trying to do their job - not police the streets. If they get involved, they risk their own lives.
If you ring the police - who, by the way, are already quite busy - they will work out that you provoked this kid and no one will give a damn what he said to you.
Apologies if this sounds harsh - I only speak the truth.
Edited to add: In response to MJ, I certainly did not intend to imply that this sort of behaviour is acceptable - only that you should pick your battles wisely. There are lots of things you can do to improve the community and help the 'youth of today' - I just don't think angering them on the bus is a good move. |
