Completely safe. You really don't know you are moving. Great views on a clear day.

When you book your tickets on the Internet also book the boat ride which plies from the same pier.

It takes you down the river and under Tower Bridge, and then back. You get some great views of the City and St. Paul's Cathedral and can see Canary Wharf in the distance etc.

If you are not going for a while it will pay you to look on eBay. Sometimes there are no tickets, other times a glut (therefore cheaper). We bought some this way when we had a foreign visitor and in effect got 3 for the price of 2!

You could also take him to the IMAX theatre about 1/2 mile (easy walk) away from the Eye, they have some spectacular shows on. We took our foreign visitor (13 year old Spanish boy) who was gobsmacked as he had never been to an Imax. If your 10 year old hasn't either give him (and you...) another treat.

HAVE A GREAT DAY OUT!

If you drink a lot beforehand it will just make it worse. Think through the eyes of your ten-year-old. He will LOVE it. I wish they had stuff like that when I was ten!

shelokay
its just like being in a room in a tall building looking out the window... its not like bing a very big ferris wheel!

it moves so slowly u dont feel the movement

wonderingstar
takes half hour to go round, yes its safe, you have to get on while it is still moving tho

?
The view is terrific from the London Eye. And you are taking your 10-year-old as well. That's fantastic! Who else is going with you? Somebody has to be responsible for him. London is not the sort of place you leave a child unattended and, if you intend drinking a CASE of wine, you should reconsider and take him on a day when you can be responsible for your actions. (if you do drink like that you probably won't get there and if you do get there they won't let you on it). London's a great place for sightseeing, but don't make yourself into the exhibition. It is safe, of course it is, millions have proven that, but you won't be if you're that drunk.
Ok, I have told you off enough. Be sober and give the little guy a treat to remember.

I was on it last month. It goes around very slowly and takes about 20 minutes. It is very safe. It is very high but the capsules are so big you feel like your in a room. They don't rock either but are completely steady. It is very expensive though. It costs £14.50 for an adult. Make sure it is a clear day so you will see properly. It doesn't give any recorded commentary about what sites you sea around you which is a pity. You have to be searched going on it and you can't use mobile phones on it. It is nice for a relaxing half hour but it is a rip off . Enjoy it.

Citizen DeCat
Yes, it is safe, and you get great views. It revolves very slowly, it's not meant to be a fairground ride.

I would question your decision to be in charge of a ten year old boy after consuming a case of wine, however.

Have fun..

Big London Eye-sore is the Millenium Dome. It like something out of Teletubbies.

aaaaaaa
Its very safe and it doesnt move very fast so you wont get dizzy. it is very high but not very scary. defnitley worth going on at least once in your life. The view is exclellent plus you get to see more of london and some famous london buildings

easy_2_like_guy
Its a lot of fun for old people. If your 10 year old wants to have some fun, take him to Alton Towers. Enjoy the roller coasters.

It moves quite slowly and it is great. No rocking or shaking like a fair ground Ferris wheel.

Coincidentally it is British airways most profitable flight, if you can call it a flight.

If you have any "air-miles" you can get tickets from them cheaper and go to the front of the queue as your tickets will be priority tickets.

Hope you have fun

oracle
its too slow and more fun for adults but there is the aquarium nearby which is more fun for kids

mareeclara
I really enjoyed it....you don;t have to stand near the windows, but can sit in the middle of the car...which is quite big really...
It takes around 30mins to go around and while it moves, it not fast or anything...NOT like a ferris wheel or even a gondola...
You don;t feel it swing or anything either...I really enjoyed it even tho it was an overcast and miserable winter day....
Apparently going at dusk is nice as you see the lights, but at this time of year it will be quite late before that happens and maybe too late for your son!!
I felt very safe in it.

PIRANHA
don't bother.total waste of money

London qirl .
I haven't yet.
But, i heard its fun. i wish one day to go.
But, yeah forreal right?? i am wondering what if it just collapses.
