Hi, London this weekend - welcome to the greatest city.Lots and lots to recommend . NottingHill is a great area, full of chitzy fashionable shops and Portobello market is great on a Saturday. Its an upmarket area though so expect high prices for accomodation and restaurants. Other good markets are east end markets on a Sunday - check out Columbia Road Market and Brick Lane .
Walk along the thames and check out The Globe theater , do the tour here , its fascinating. I like the Eye and its right near the Globe so worth a detour.
There is so much really. You could take a historical walking tour of the city , good tours I have taken are the original London walks http://www.walks.com/ - the guides really know their facts and there is a walk everyday. For more independent history finding and walking look at http://www.talkingtrip.com , the walks allow you to discover an area of London at your own pace whilst learning about the history.
For nightlife - you can get a discount ticket to theatre in Leicester Square, I saw Avenue Q recently which was hysterical. Otherwise there are lots and lots of bars and nightclubs, depends on where you are staying and what you are into.

The Tower of London, the London Eye, the changing of the Guard, and the Victoria and Albert Museum all come to mind.

Catch a play in the West End, check out Speaker's Corner in Hyde park, or go listen to some Jazz at Ronnie Scotts.

Take a boat ride to Greenwich, wander around Westminster, and go look at St. Pauls.

Go shopping a Harrods or just drool over all the good stuff in the food courts.

Go to your library and look up a book called 'Hidden London'. It will guide you around places that are rarely seen by tourists. Also you must find time to visit 'Borough Market' it sells fabulous organic foods and flowers and is a very beautiful place to visit. 'The George Inn' in Borough high street is owned by the National Trust and it is like stepping back in time when you enter the courtyard.
Petticoat Lane Market on a Sunday morning is great fun as is Greenwich market. Don't confine yourself to 'indoor' attractions if you want to savour the real London, it all goes on outdoors!

London can be free if you go to the right places. The British Museum, National Gallery, Natural History museum and Science Museum are all free to enter and have so much to see. The royal parks are free and look very nice when the weather warms up too. London can be expensive with the London Eye and Tower of London etc but it depends what you are interested in. I would recommend the National Gallery and the British Museum as they offer so much at no cost at all. So take your time and enjoy London

Apart from the answers earlier, there are tons of things to do in London. Shopping, Museums, Attractions, Theatre, etc, etc.

If you are travelling in as a couple, I would have a look at special offers in London, there are loads of 2 for 1 offers availiable for most attractions, some theatres and some resturants.

I would highly recommend a day of looking around, don't use the bus or tube unless you are travelling far. Most areas can be covered by foot in the centre. Start at Trafalgar Square, you can walk up the Mall, see Buck Palace and the changing of the gaurd, then up to Hyde Park Corner, via Green Park and your up to Oxford Street, all the way along that to Centre Point and turn down towards Leicester Square and Theatreland, back to Trafalgar Square and down Whitehall to Parliment Square.

If your not too exhausted, walk across Hungerford bridge by Charing Cross / Embankment tube to the National Film Theatre, then walk bankside to London Bridge, down Tooley Street and your at Tower Bridge.

Then you can either choose to go onwards via DLR into Docklands, or back up Holborn towards the West End again.

Loads of things to see, little outlets, and cafes to stop at enroute.

Try camdens markets ie the stables markets.

London Eye or view from Alexandra Palace.

Try the cake shops in old compton street in Soho.

I went recently really enjoyed the London eye, and the Tate modern if you like that sort of thing. If you can get tickets for a musical Wicked is fantastic if you get the chance to see it.

London Eye - it's a big attraction but i found it pretty boring. Chinatown is good for a visit if you wnat to shop or eat , just off Leicester square.

You're having a laugh aren't you? The only things you know about London are Tussauds and the Dungeon, two overpriced tourist traps and the theatre! This has got to be a joke question.
In case you ARE serious:
What about the parks, museums (big buildings where you can see interesting and rare things) the Tower (a very old castle), a river cruise, St Pauls (big church) amongst others?
I suggest you google 'visit London'.

spot the bit with no rubbish , count how many people sleeping rough, count how many super cars the politicians are using by standing at the gates of Westminster , try and catch a bus that's on time and find a seat without chewing gum , take a deep breath passing some cafes spot the one that is drug free
