I'v been up there thrice, first time i stayed in this nice place by haymarket called Palmerston Hotel that is just by tht church called St.andrews i guess but not pretty sure..The place is quite decent and is a B&B lodging with twin room as well as dormitory.
The second time i stayed over in budget packers and trust me you wouldnt want to go there, the place is just pathetic and itz more like a red-light district than a decent lodgin i mean with all the porno on the walls and the dungeon kinda appearance of the whole place in all. the third time we played it safe and took out tents with us coz we went on a camping trip to north of scotland then....So i guess you can try out palmerston place which is quite near to haymarket...good access to the bus station as well as nearby to princes street, quite a walking distance really... |

Try the guys at premier travel inn, their a bit like the Hotel equivalent of McDonald's but at least they are reasonably cheap & clean. |

The Apex European is near Haymarket and is cheap, or try the Premier Travel Lodge near Grassmarket. All the big budget hotel groups have hotels in central Edinburgh - Ibis, Holiday Inn Express, Travellodge etc. |

best to look on the net for deals as they can be cheaper than the ones the hotel will sell you direct.
i stayed at the carlton meridian (near edinburgh waverly station) when i went to the fringe festival this year. loved the city and people there but the hotel was not all that (rooms with 'character' just means old and dusty). staff were sweet though |

I haven't been to Edinburgh before
but my best advice would be to
go on www.yell.co.uk
and look for hotels and see if they have websites that show you pictures and prices of the place |

The Mount Royal, Princes Street is very good but it is central Edinburgh and may not suit your wedding destination. I can recommend it though, stayed there once and it was very good. |

the hawes inn in south queensferry is really nice. its 63 quid per night per room and you get continental breakfast. http://www.innkeeperslodge.com/lodgedetail.asp?lid=53
or the premier travel inn in south queensfery is 56 quid per night. no breakfast but theres a really nice mcdonalds next door. whatever you do don't stay at the stags head in queensferry. its filthy!! |

I stayed at the Holiday Inn. It was pretty reasonably priced. I believe it had a breakfast included. It was close to the water, if that helps. I have no idea if it's near the areas you are looking at, though. I was only there 2 nights. |

Not sure if you'll get a good deal at this short notice but The Point, near the Grassmarket, is funky and not badly priced...but don't expect 5 star service! |

Good luck! I tried the same thing in Edinburgh and ended up taking our tent as we have not won the lottery recently! |
