Love the UK? |
I keep reading questions and answers about people that live in the UK and keep slagging it off.
If you don't like it why do you live here?
Why don't you go somewhere else?
I don't see the point in slagging it off if your not going to do anything about it!
I love the UK. I'm very proud to be British. |

I know the questions you refer to, and I have answered similarly to what you have posted here. I too love the UK and wouldn't want to leave. We are the fourth richest nation in the world, we lead a very comfortable lifestyle. Yes, some laws are rubbish, but find me a country where you agree with every law, and I would say you are a liar. We have the same social problems than every other Western modern country, but they are made to look out of control by tabloid reporting.
1000 children die every year in the UK due to road traffic accidents, yet it hardly gets a mention in the news. That is tragic! But what is more tragic is when the media whip up a storm over the odd killing here or there of a teenager, or a murder committed by an immigrant. Don't get me wrong they are tragic too, but I would like to see more balanced media reporting - the newspapers and TV news stations should take on a moral obligation to make the UK be presented for what it truly is - a Great place to be! |

You say "Why don't you go somewhere else?" That's OK if you're a brain surgeon or something, but for ordinary mortals it's not that easy. |

Good for you. If only everyone felt that way then the U.K. wouldn`t be what it has become today. |

You will have noticed record emmigration figures being announced yesterday. So it seems a record number of people are doing something about it. |

Me too, I love the UK. We are so lucky that we have so much - people who complain about life here dont know they are born!
And it REALLY annoys me when people slag of british food, or say there is no 'British food' which is totally wrong. They have clearly not been out to investigate the great food producers, and restaurants the UK has to offer. |

it's annoy me when moaning right-wingers hijack the questions and talk about 'lack of punishment' for crimes.
if anything what this country needs is *more liberal* laws -asbos/curfews are a breach of human rights, there is no need for soft drugs to remain illegal, ID cards and detention without trial are a breach of civil liberties.
moaning, pessimistic idiots should leave the country and live in an actual right-wing dictatorship and see how much they really bloody like it, it makes me proud to be one of the so-called 'loony left' they so despise. |

I have to travel regularly to various countries in the middle and Far East and am ALWAYS happy to get back to the unpredictable weather, negativity towards almost everything, warm beer, excellent community spirit (apart from at least one of your respondents), the continuing story of Tim Henman, the soso fortunes of the nation's sporting representatives and the Gordon and Dave interractions...not to mention the Paxo Show on BBC2.
It's wonderful!!!!
Sun is the sky o y o y would you wnna be anywhere else - Good old Lily Allen!!!!

I love the uk. And im definatly pround to be english! it just sometimes if you see how many families of complete english decendent live here, you would feel annoyed. Im not a racist person but there are so many different races living in england nowadays it is not what it used to be like.
Just as the person above said, whenever i come home of my holiday, instead of being sad, im actually looking forward to it. I love a good english cup of tea, the warm beer, the weather, the royal family, sitting down at christmas watching the queens speach, a nice fry up, sunday roasts, bangers and mash, watching england play in the world cup. I wouldnt ever want to change my heritage! |

Sometimes it is the British doing the slagging.
We're sick of our country being taken over by aliens & them trashing our culture and traditions.
I am ENGLISH and proud, but I still think the country has gone to pot. It's a sh*t hole nowadays.
If I could afford to, I would be off. I'd go live in Cyprus and take on all their traditions and embrace their culture. I would never go to another country and slag it. |

So am I, I have always been proud to be British; however mass immigration and even people from the Indian sub continent claiming to be "British and proud of it" is causing a general lack of patriotism in indigenous British.
Our old home land has recently changed like never before in history ( other immigrants were successful invaders and in small numbers compared with today's millions)Many people do not yet realise that we cannot support over 60,600,000 people see below.
There is a depression over the UK and I feel mass immigration is the reason |

whats to love or be proud of? this country really does s"ck.
Your summers are worse then most countries Winters. Your food is crap, rubbish services (transport, medical etc etc) all stuck in the 3rd world.
Hoodies everywhere. Council estates all over the show. Nothing for kids to do at all.
Rip off prices for just about everything.
You spend most your life in queues.
No wonder everyone is up and leaving this dump. |

My parents moved to Australia from England when I was 3 years old. I have since been back 3 times and would give my left arm to live there permanently. I just LOVE the place. I feel like I am "home" when I am there!
PS: I still have a British passport only and won't give it up until I absolutely HAVE to ;) |

I think that people native to a country see the most wrong with it...which is not always necessarily true either. That said..I lived in the UK (Scotland) for a number of years and I quite enjoyed it, not the sunniest of countries up north, but still all in all I liked the country as well as the people I met... |
