It's because it started out as a 'cash and carry' outfit so you had to have a trade card, but now anyone can get one - it's like joining a club.

You have to be 17+ to get a matalan card. I lost mine ages ago and i use my dads all the time when i go there and no*one asks me anything!!!

So my advice is use a friends or relatives card.

I think it is a marketing tool to advertise their latest clothing etc cos every now and then i receive something through the post from them!!!

Hope this is ok for you

there is a front desk at the matalan shop where you (used to, may be more now) pay a pound and othen off you go shopping...

Blah blah blah
Check out their website:

http://www.matalan.co.uk

Hope this helps! :o)

They put your details on a database and send offers .....they also use it to list your purchases etc. I have taken things back on two occasions without a reciept and they know when and where i brought it and exchanged with no fuss

lisa_b
they used to charge a £1 but not sure if they still do as I had a new card recently and didnt pay.

It did seem like a con!

Just ask for a card at the till when you go to pay for your goods. You fill in a form there and then, and they give you a card right away!

stupidandbored
I don't know why you need a card. but you get one instantly just go to customer service desk and ask them they will give you a small form to fill in( name address etc) and they will give you a card straight away takes 2 mins.

just go to the customer service desk in store and they will give you a card,i have had mine for ages dont remember having to pay but maybe you do.im never out of my local matalan i like a bargain x

They want you to have a card so that they have your details on a database and post you thier offers every now and then. If you want a card you just have to ask at the service desk.

pidgeon!
all you do is walk in the shop and ask for a membership card. it's free ,you get it there and then and you can use it to shop the same day.

Kerry K
just go to the customer service desk and ask for a card - they used to cost £1, but I think they are free now.

good luck and happy shopping
