London is a city in England. I believe it is the capital city. I believe the UK or the United kingdom is comprised of England, Ireland and Scotland.

London is a city and it is the capital city of England and also of the United Kingdom...

England is the largest of the countries which make up Great Britain and The United Kingdom...

Great Britain =
England
Wales
Scotland

The United Kingdom =
The countries of Great Britain plus the Province of Northern Ireland (also known as Ulster) and it is commonly known as
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Southern Ireland (also known as Eire and the Republic of Ireland) has not been part of the United Kingdom since the early 1920's

Manchester is also a city in England...quite a large one, and I live about 35 miles away from it!

Shane Kirk.
The UK is the country, London is the capital. England is a constituent country of the UK, just like states in the US

You already have lots of answers, but I am going to try to simplify it for you.

UK stands for United Kingdom. That means the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is a mouthful, so it gets shortened to UK.

London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, and lots of other cities are in England (part of the UK) and London is the capital of England.

So.........London is not a country, it is England's capital and the biggest city.

Manchester is also a big city and is also in England.

England is a great place to visit with lots of history - I was born there myself and lived there for 22 years.

I hope this helps

lol , this is funny ,
anyway ,
London is the capital of United Kingdom (UK),
London is not a country , never been one ,

i also think that u are confused about England and UK not London and UK ,
well Englad is a part of the United Kingdom ,
i'll give u an Example :
the Soviet Union Before included Russia and other "countries" where Russia was the one controlling the union ,
Russia = England
Soviet union = UK

london is not a country.

London is the capital city of England, the capital city of Great Britain, and the capital city of the United Kingdom. It is one city located in England.

England is located in Great Britain, and Great Britain is the most part of the United Kingdom.

The UK (a kingdom) = GB (a country) + NI (a principality)
UK = United Kingdom, GB = Great Britain, NI = Northern Ireland.
GB (a country) = England (a country) + Scotland (a country) + Wales (a country, but was a principality for ages - the Prince of Wales is still around)

The RoI (republic of Ireland, AKA Eire) is a country. It is geographically south of NI, but politically completely seperate.

Do you mean COUNTY ???
London is not a country, just a different planet where MP's dictate new laws to line their own pockets.

London is a city in England. England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland make up the United Kingdom, or UK.

Ireland may also be part of the UK, but I know they use the Euro as currency whereas the other countires listed still use the pound.
