Spent 3 weeks in DFW (Worthington Hotel in FW)....but spent dozens of weeks in USA generally.
As a Brit, what you should be most aware of is your sophisticated wicked sense of humour. The Americans just cannot get it, and they will probably think you are insulting, even though you are being ironic or just taking the mickey.
As mentioned above, Godbothering is a major pastime so don't even think about using the usual JChrist swearwords.
Generally don't swear, and call your seniors (Age) Sir or Maam if you don't know them.
Don't get into political debate, because USA runs the world and everybody else is wrong. And, they have guns to prove that you are wrong.
Don't called Dubya a nobhead, even though he is.
Snapping turtles that'll take your leg off.
Beer, it's chemical kosh...unless you drink lager over here anyway.
And yes, Texas is the biggest State, "Why not even the whole nided states is bigger n Texas boy", I was told in a bar.

You will also be aware of a great lifestyle, success to those that work hard.
Probably more money, definately less tax.
Stuff you need is cheap (Unlike rip-off Britain).
Steaks as big as a surfboard cooked perfectly.

Good looking gals (Especially in those Shorts n hats!!!) and big fellas.
Oh, and if you're thinking about getting a Cowboy hat, be prepared to bay a few hundred dollars for a good one.

wearing a cowboy hat is not for fun,
they are not on a stag or hen night,
Texans take their hats v. seriously so don't mess with the dude with the hat on.
(he's probably a proper cowboy and could whup your behind!!)

also never ask for a large anything, it'll be so huge you won't be able to eat/drink/wear it!!

Have fun over there, they are a lovely (in the most) bunch of people and very friendly with it, if they invite you over, go and have a good time y'all.

You're in for a learning experience........

Import your own marmite & beer unless you like what I call "near frozen gnats p!ss"

Beware that it is ridiculously hot over there, and they often have droughts, although they are currently flooding.

Don't insult Bush

Don't insult / deny the existance of the Christian deity.

Shooting / hunting is big over there.

Don't buy a 4x4 (on principal) - get a hatchback instead - you don't need something that looks like a small lorry to go to the supermarket.

Everything is bigger in Texas!

Well...just be PROUD of living in Texas. Texas isn't just a state...it is a state of mind....Texans are fiercely proud of their state. I was born in Texas and have lived here all of my life. By the way...I have never heard anyone call soccer football...soccer is soccer and football is football.

Moving from the UK? Wow That's far! Coincidence I'm moving to Texas too! Next week I'm moving from Virginia to Texas. Make sure you have summer clothes year round cuz its hot!

Take afternoon tea at the Savoy, it's an institution.
Remember to check out The Diana and Dodi statue at Harrods store I find it quite touching
