They may have a hard time; homosexuality was still illegal in Northern Ireland as late as the 1980s, and as friendly as people there can be, it remains the most bigoted corner of the UK. Some UK or Irish travel guides have sections for gay travellers that might help. There are a lot of B & Bs around the university and Botanic Avenue, but I don't know which are gay-friendly. Where are your friends from? I lived in Belfast as a Canadian and people were very nice to me, but I would advise them to be discreet. |

it would take sherlock holmes to find that, tell your mates to keep quiet about their sexuality. theres a hostel beside the christian reading rooms just over from the europa. but i have to be honest if they hold hands or kiss in public expect to be stared at and a hell of a lot more, were not a very cosmopolitian town just yet |
