my in laws flew from Edinburgh to London and on arrival at the airport were told they needed passports to fly, after a bit the airline accepted a photo driving licence and an official disabled blue badge as it also has a photo on it. But they were told to fly again they needed passports. |

Any piece of legal ID will do. Nothing to do with border control. Security measures. They want to know who exactly is boarding the plane. |

Domestic travel does not require a passport, but why not take it? It's a good form of identification. |

A lot of Airlines ask to see photographic ID when booking/boarding an Internal Flight - usually Passport or Photo Driving Licence. |

If she has citizenship in either place, she should not require a passport. A valid photo ID issued by the government such as a driver's license should be sufficient. She should double check with the carrier she would be flying with.
My father was born in England and when we flew into Scotland without issue. Unlike me... the Canadian. >.<
Good luck. |

Needs to be a photo ID for security. For most people their passport is the best piece of photo ID.
Probably check directly with the airline which other forms of ID are accepted. E.g. Some airlines have exclusions even for photo driving licenses. |

The airline will need her to produce a form of photo ID. It doesn't have to be a passport and that's not required for immigration purposes. Despite what some would lead you to believe Scotland and England are part of the same country. |
