I have tried googling it and there are conflicting views , I just looked this artical , but not 100% sure .

THE new school census of New York, which has just been completed, and the municipal records of new dwellings and apartments, indicate that the population of the city has increased in a manner so remarkable that the next Federal census will find New York as large if not larger than London.

London (as in greater London) is far more spread out. New York has the higher population number. but due to high density being higher (quite literally) it is more condensed.

If you compare to Auckland, NZ comparatively low population at 1.5 million, but nearly all low density bungalow (some exceptions) and geography (volcanoes, green parks and two natural harbours) it is really very spread and in land squarage one of the larger cities in the world .

PS I prefer London to NY as well.

and London is 874 sq. mi. (2,263 kmÂ²)

So london is much larger.

my dads from london, when i went out there i absolutly loved evrything about it, but i didnt stay there i stayed on the isle of wight, new york is way too over crowded london =WAY BETTER :)

Well, Manhattan itself is on a tiny island about 8 miles long. If you're counting the other boroughs of NYC (Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Staten Island) I believe New York City is larger.

As any fool knows the "City of London" is 1 square mile.
Also fascinating as it's the area bounded by the "Griffins" (I think)
