Newcastle ALWAYS it's a great city and the people, nightlife and shopping are second to none. Leeds is pretty good too but I would always choose Newcastle even before London. Give yourself a treat and be a geordie for the weekend. I'm Scottish by the way so I'm not being biased.

Personally from quick stays whilst looking around Universities (i.e. I went looking at the Cities as well!) I prefer Leeds but I didn't stay in either long enough to make the judgement
