Nice areas in London?

I need somewhere to live, close to Central London, and to work. I'm a Solicitor, and I'm going to moving over, the area has to be nice and respectful. I need somewhere that is close, but yet somewhere nice away from the rowdiness.
Thanks!
Additional Details
As I said, I'm a solicitor, so a nice area, and I'm not short of money. :)

The nicest places to live in London are Kensington and Chelsea and parts of Fulham. However you will be looking at close to a million for a nice place. Mayfair / Marble Arch / St. John's Wood are good places if you need to be more central - again similar price tag. Further out, Richmond is very genteel with lots of beautiful shops, Richmond park and is very leafy. Primrose Hill is a fave of celebs because of the nice neighbourhoods - Notting Hill and Hampstead too are lovely. You just need to go and visit these places and see which one you like best.

Try saint Johns wood. I used to have a house on number one Springfield and Abby road. And it was lovely.

Hampstead or Highgate are lovely areas, and Muswell Hill is not too bad either ... all of them benefit from being slightly elevated so that whatever fresh air there is, they get it (lower down into the Thames valley can be very stuffy at times) ... also all of them have loads of open space nearby

Bloomsbury/Holborn is a very nice area.
It is right in the centre of london and close to chancery lane which is known to be the home of several law firms.

The prices are also very reasonable.

I've lived in Highbury all my life and haven't been stabbed once.

Islington is great. there's a great buzz up the Angel and getting to work is easy especialy in your line

Fulham & Chelsea are great area but apartments or house would cost a fortune.

South Ken is lovely and Chelsea (as others have said).

Public transport in London is a total nightmare though and getting worse in my opinion. There's no air-con on the tube, not enough buses - everything is crowded and expensive so if money really is no object for you then I would look to live somewhere you can walk to work. This will improve your quality of life immeasurably.

London is one of the busiest cities and also a business district and also an expensive one. The city offers loads of options to stay in according to ones budget and preferences. I think if one is nice to others than those people will also definitely respect you. So no need to worry about it. You can stay in Marylebone, Chelsea, Paddington, Mayfair, The Strand, Kensington, Hyde Park, The London City, Bayswater and lots more to choose from. London has many accommodations with great comfort, close to easy transport access, shopping centres, business districts and good amenities and facilities in hotels or apartments. As you said money won't be a constraint when choosing a hotel to stay then you can easily get the place to stay according to your needs and requirements. You can find the hotels in London by location at: http://www.discountcityhotels.net/CityInfo/5/GB/London/Locations.html or you can search for hotels by star ratings at: http://www.discountcityhotels.net/CityInfo/5/GB/London/StarRatings.html . Surely you will adore the city, the people and the hotel where you will be staying.
