CHESTER

Frogg Manor near chester is fab hotel with rooms all different themes and great food - check out on internet - well worth money! My partner and in stayed in The Wellington but check out pictures of lady guinevere

Chester is lovely city to visit - you can walk around the wall for sightseeing, great restaurants and cafe bars. Lots of really good roman ruins scattered around city, military museum, cathedral and great market outside town hall on saturdays.

Lovely shopping with the 'rows' giving you an extra row of shops above street level - lots of shops that are independent as well as chains.

You can go down the river - either hire a small boat or on tour boat.

if races on these are well worth a visit - very exciting but don't stay in grosvernor hotel on race weekend!Lots of golf course and places for spa.

Its lovely

Stratford upon Avon, and the Cotswolds and Oxford isn't very far away. Wherever you decide on, have a wonderful time!

I can wholeheartedly recommend the Crooklands Hotel near Kendal. It's close enough to the Lakes to be convenient but far enough in the sticks to be private and away from the tourists. It's just off jct 36 on the M6. They have a website;

www.crooklands.com

Have fun!

York is beautiful. I can't remember the names of the hotels I stayed in but the one lovely one was close to a racecourse, there is so much to see in and around York - the cathedral, the wall, the shambles etc and it is close to the countryside too.
Other good places are Durham, Lake District, Bath. Or why not head north and come to Bonnie Scotland?
I hope you have a lovely anniversary. Congratulations.

The Lakes or the Yorkshire Dales - beautiful countryside. And the chance to just chill.

What about the Peak District National Park which isn't far from Nottingham. I stayed in the comfortable and pleasantly old fashioned Old Hall Hotel in Buxton. www.oldhallhotelbuxton.co.uk

You are 80 miles from Cambridge, lots to see and a good choice of hotels.

How about Liverpool? It's Capital of Culture year so there's lots going on. Why not try the complete Liverpool experience and stay in the newly opened 'Hard Day's Night' Hotel. It's not a bit tacky, very tasteful and stylish in fact. Then there's cathedrals, Georgian areas, football stadia tours, Albert dock... the list is endless. I live here and still find something different to do each weekend. Wherever you choose, have a lovely time!j

Why not go to Bath? We stayed at the Kennard
Hotel o Henrietta Street. Very easy to walk to the sites. Hosts of Kennard are very nice. Clark's restaurant on the corner of Henrietta and Great Pultney is a delicious place to eat.

I would go to Lincoln and stay up hill next to the cathedral. There is plenty to see and do. Also the area has some very good restaurants all within easy walking distance of the hotel.
For years Lincoln was over-looked and forgotten, but since it has gained a university, huge investment has created a very stylish and historic city.
The Old White Hart is on Bailgate and almost next door to the cathedral.tel, 01522 526 222. They do weekend break rates and have a good reputation. All the very good restaurants are within yards of the hotel.
Lincoln tourist information 01522 873800.
If you like antiques, there are plenty of places to go. Hemswell Cliff is about 10 miles from Lincoln going north on the A15.Or a must is Horncastle. What was an old shop is floor to ceiling, yard to cellar of bric a brac, antiques. It is really cheap and open Sundays. It is almost opposite Sommerfield.
