The US has never carried out a successful invasion of any country other than Hawaii. It failed in Korea, Vietname, Cambodia, Afghanistan and now Iraq. It failed in its earlier invasion of Canada and got its presidents house burned down in retaliation (it was painted white prior to repairs).
When US airplanes tried to bomb the Libya dictators tent palace, on the first attempt they missed the country. Thats right, not the city, not the palace but the whole country.
In world war two, US forces were so ineffective that the Germans used to say "When the Brits fire, the Germans duck and when the Germans fire, the Brits duck. But when the Americans fire, EVERYONE ducks." American tanks were so prone to "spontaneous combustion" that they were nick named Ronsons.
