PLEASE HELP!! british namess?

hii all =]
im from america and we need to do a project on queen elizabeth. we have to pick a character thatt lives in her times and basically follow her through her life. it doesnt have to be historically accurate, so i decided to do a girl that elizabeth found when she was a baby; she treats the girl like her daughter.

so i need a name for the daughter.
a british name =]]

for first names, i came up with either:
chloe
evi
mia

i need surnames now!!
and also if u could help me choose a first name that would be awesome!
THANKS SOO MUCH!<33

For the period of Queen Elizabeth I, any of the following would be acceptable girls names:

Agnes, Anne, Jane, Joan, Katherine/Catherine, Margaret, Mary

For a surname, you could choose either:

- A name based on family relationship (like Johnson, Williamson, Thomas, etc)

- A name based on a natural feature near their home (Wood, Hill, Field, etc.) or the area that they or their ancestors came from (Wiltshire, Ashford, Pevensey, etc)

- A name based on their or their ancestors occupation: Carpenter, Smith, Fletcher (puts feathers on arrows), Baker, Gardener, Cooper (makes barrels).

- A name derived from a nickname or distinguishing feature of one of their ancestors (Reid, for example, comes from red as in red-haired, or Armstrong, meaning literally someone strong in the arm)

See what you can come up with!

I think the names you have suggested are too fancy from that day. The names they more used where like
beatrice, mary, victoria.

Here are some ideas for you

victoria windsor
Mary Honary
Beatrice Wilson
Sarah Jane Parker
Margaret Pastor

I like sarah jane parker

You posted this question twice. I answered it as follows :

Those first names are not really the sort of names that would have been used in those times.

Look at http://www.guildofstmichael.org/names.html for a list of contemporary names.

For surnames have a look at http://surname.sofeminine.co.uk/w/surnames/uk.html

Note the names suggested above : Evans, Jones, Davies, Williams are all Welsh surnames. although common in England now they would have been less common in England then.

Here are some really common british surnames

Williams

I think Chloe is a good British name, however were always trying different names from various countries on our children so foregin names are as popular now!
