Even though I'm from Scotland, I have decided to answer this question.
When people say British, most people will probably think "Oh, you're English!"... There's more than one country in Britain, so why does it basically refer to Britain as England... What about Scotland, N. Ireland and Wales!? Oh well. |

It Depends. With this question I assume you are not from England. The British Isles is made of four parts. England, Scotland Wales and Northern Ireland (Southern Ireland is legally a seperate country with a border although there are people who want a united Ireland sperate from Britain - hence some of the fighting that goes on) Anyway, the four parts is why the term British Isles or United Kingdom is used. The nationalities of most people if you ask them in their part of Britain will usually be English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish. If anyone from overseas asks me, I will usually say that I am British to avoid the long explanation. Within the country I will tend to say I am English. |

English..."British" can refer to being Scottish, Welsh or to people from Northern Ireland. Would have said Irish, but not all of Ireland is part of the U.k.

English, but it doesn't really bother me unless people on American TV call it a 'British accent'. That's the bit that gets me.
And I would prefer St George's day to be a public holiday- an extra day off! |

Personally, I'm not that bothered. I suppose it might be more polite to be called British? But I doubt that many people get too upset about it. |

British because when people say they speak English you think American (which is not a bad thing).

I’m not bothered. We are all human and using nationality causes confusion between humans. We are all Allah's creatures and nationality only splits human's into categories which is wrong. |
