What type of work you are planning to do may affect where the best places are to look.
Are you planning to set up a business or buy one?

Loads of places are nice in the UK.
Also a village to you may be a small town here. Many villages in the UK have few amenities some don't even have schools.

Generally it is cheaper to purchase properties in the North of England, but all the surrounding areas of big cities are very expensive, just as costly as the south. Scotland and Wales have some very beautiful places as well.

I would suggest as airfares are fairly cheap wait until May and come for a long weekend. Fly into Newcastle or Liverpool and just visit the local area. You obviously have a reasonable command of English, so collect some local newspapers, then send your details using the Internet to some estate agencies (that's where most people get their homes via)
Let them search for you using the criteria you have given, plus you can give them a lot personal information in confidence than is safe to list here.

Hope you enjoy our Country if you come, but the government is pants and worse than house prices are the taxes taken in relation to services provided. Plus the cost of good quality food is high in the UK.

If you think house prices are expensive there, you're going to have a awful shock if you come to England.

Houses in England are about the highest in the world. I sure doubt if Spain would be expensive compared to England.

Ireland still has some good places that are not too costly and there are good job opertunities there as well.

Way to many to state. have a look at discover the UK so you can narrow your search, as for prices I think you got it a little bit wrong Spain is way cheaper than the UK. But good luck

I would have thought that the property prices where you are now are cheaper...the weather is certainly far better than here !!

Look for somewhere in North Yorkshire such as Thirsk, North Allerton or perhaps Yarm - I am not sure how expensive things are over where you are, but expect it to be just as bad if not worse in England - You will be looking at about Â£110,000 for a 2 bedroomed house minimum over here (unless it needs a lot of work doing to it, then you will probably get it for about Â£90,000)

I moved to Belfast from England and I love it! There are so many nice small towns all around too, it's all very pretty.

Ireland has some of the highest house prices in Europe. The counties whose house prices are reasonable are those that border the Shannon. Roscommon, Longford and Leitrim. Leitrim was top in the league of best places to live in Europe two years ago.
