Trevor's Peak. It is a little know monument in central London. It commemorates the day Sir Trevor Smith first walked on the surface of his lounge. He spent three days there and returned to the dog and duck gasping for a pint.
A statue was erected in his memory after he died in an accident involving a sore finger, melted cheese and the Norwegian Prime Minister. The statue can be seen next to Nelson's Column with the inscription "let no man underestimate the challenge undertaken by men of valour" |

There are many hundreds of statues here in London but there does not seem to be a complete list collected together. Maybe someone will do something about that one day.

Well there is the "Monument" near Monument station which is a large structure to remember the great fire of London.
There's the Cenotaph where they have the memorial day celebrations.
There's the large gold statue of Prince Albert in Hyde Park near the Albert Hall which is just amazing now that it's been cleaned up.
There is No. 1 St Mary Axe, also known as the Gherkin or Swiss Re building which just looks amazing on the skyline now.
There's the towers at Canary Wharf with the little light on top to stop planes flying into it.
St Paul's Cathedral which must be visible from any available point in London and architects must take this into consideration when building new buildings which is why a new one nearby is triangular so as not to obscure the view.
Battersea Power station is very iconic with it's white towers. The Tate Modern is very imposing in brown brick. The Oxo Tower with it's red OXO is a wonderful building and great for views too.
The Telecom Tower can be seen from a distance (used to be the Post Office Tower).
The London Eye is not technically a building but still an iconic part of London.
The Houses of parliament, big ben, Westminster Cathedral are all tourist must-sees.
Buckingham Palace is probably the most famous building in London.
Harrods is iconic as it is the largest department store in Europe and was the first public building to use escalators.
Tower Bridge has iconic status due to the fact that it lifts up to let the boats pass.
Trafalgar square is not a building but the lions and fountains are very famous. |
