Poll: Which is your favourite English seaside resort?

I like Blackpool and Great Yarmouth, or for a quieter place: Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, Southsea or Morecambe. Is anybody else fond of the English seaside?

Love it. My favourite place for a weekend break is Southwold, in Suffolk, but I must admit I have a very soft spot for Great Yarmouth, having spent pretty much most of every summer there as a child, staying with my Grandparents, then following that, the beach at Burry Port, South Wales where I spent the other half of the holidays with my other grandparents!

But for a weekend you can't beat Southwold.

Bridlington or Scarbrough iv'e been visiting there since i was 3 i'm 18 now, it brings back so many memories just walking down the beach eating fish and chips and then donuts then going to the amusements even though me and my family have to stay in a small caravan the size of a tin of beans it doesn't matter coz it's all worth it in the end just being there experiencing the old memories and creating new ones

Steep Hill Cove between Ventnor and Niton on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is straight out of an Enid Blyton story book.

'Er indoors!!
I love quiet, deserted beaches, and this one is my favourite. It's near to my home, and I walk my dog on it every day.

I don't know how anyone can possibly like Blackpool, it's crass, and seedy. Give me scenery, and peace, anyday.

Meat Loaf fan
Blackpool, is a dive.

We went to Broadstairs the other week and loved it. The beaches are fantastic (you really could be abroad!) and people were very friendly. We had the best italian ice cream ever at lunch time and found a great place to eat in the eve. It was lovely going for a walk along the seaside were their were beach huts and their friendly occupants. This place is not your usual tacky seaside resort either ( only one games/money room in the whole place). Hope this has been of help to you !

How is 'Cornwall' a beach?! It's a county!

Anyway, my favourite beaches are Brighton, Whitby and Paignton.

I haven't been to Blackpool for years, but last time I was there, it was full of drunk women on hen nights with phalluses stuck to their clothes, being sick in the street and generally getting on everybody's nerves.
