You dont need a passport but you will need some approved photo ID to get on a plane. If i were you for this trip i would use what ever you can, but i would order a Passport for next time. Having one resloves so many problems. It is the best form of ID for everything.
The following are acceptable forms of ID.

* A valid passport
* An expired passport (can be used on domestic flights for up to two years after expiry)
* Valid photographic EU or Swiss national identity card
* Valid photographic driving licence
* Valid armed forces identity card
* Valid police warrant card/badge
* Valid airport employees security identity pass
* A child on parent’ s passport is an acceptable form of ID
* CitizenCard
* Valid photographic firearm certificate
* Valid Government-issued identity card
* SMART card
* Electoral identity card
* NUS cards photographic (National Union of Students)
* Photographic University/College ID card
* Company ID cards of Nationally recognised companies (photographic)
* Council issued bus pass (Senior Citizens only)
* Pension book (as only acceptable form of non-photographic identification)

It apparently depends on the airline. Easyjet need photo ID Its apparently because you are going thru check in to the departure lounge and is a security measure. Airlines seem to change their rules from day to day. Check before you leave home

You will need ID to fly, check with the airline what sort of ID you need.

You wouldnt need it if you were driving. Enjoy!

Not to get in, but some airlines need some form of photo ID for you to travel. Also if your highering a car, some places will want to see a passport, but not to enter scotland from england.

Check with the airline as to what ID you need.

No porblem but like all air lines these days you need som form of ID such as passport but it's not used for any other specific purpose. In fact a driving licence would do.

But like the lady said check with the airlines. And remember check out those seasonal flights as normal Internal flights to say Aberdeen are expensive if you do not book well in advance.

Cheap flights from Southampton this time of the year to Scotland.

You don't need a passport but the airline will require photo id such as a passport or driving licence when you check in for your flight.

No such thing as a silly question. No you do not need a passport to go to Scotland from inside the UK.

you dont need a passport to drive to scotland but im not sure about flying, i would say you would beacause you cant fly with out one

Happihawkeye
No, you don't need a passport, Scotland is part of the United Kingdom.

Come on up, the weather if fine. :)

xx

i dont imagine so, scotland is part of the UK so if you are travelling within the UK you usually do not need a passport. however knowing airport security it would be safer to take your passport and not use it than not take it!

hahahahaha. No, Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, so of course you don't need a passport to get in.

You are right it will be a lot quicker to fly, and may also be cheaper. To get on the plane, you usually need some photo ID - either a passport or a drivers licence.

No, and they are very friendly and nice people to meet!

raapau
when you travel internally in the uk, all you need is photographic id. of who you are, i suppose your passport would be the best thing ,but i'm sure a driving license or something will be just as good, play safe and contact the company your flying with and check them out

Not yet, .....

But after next Thursday's by-election in Glasgow East (when the Scottish National Party are likely to take the seat from Labour, current majority 13500), then Scottish Independence becomes one step closer. It is likely that passport control will be needed at the border to stem the tide of economic migrants from England (the oil is OURS!)

You will need photographic ID to travel on any plane these days - either passport or a photographic driving licence will do.

Nicki
Im guessing probably not.... =]
