Question for anyone from the UK?

Now this probably seems completely silly, but I'm making the move overseas in a few years and the saddest part of my leaving is that I'm afraid I'll miss the weather here. And not just any weather...I'm afraid I'll miss the thunderstorms. I've been all over Ireland and England, but never for more than two weeks at a time. I don't remember ever being there during a thunderstorm (lots of rain though, haha!) I was wondering if you guys got many thunderstorms, and if so, how often? Where I'm from, we get them all the time in the summer and as a matter of fact, it's thundering right now! Sorry if this is a pathetic question, but it would mean a lot to me if you could answer it for me. :)
Additional Details
I'm from the Northeastern side of the US, moving TO the UK. Sorry, I didn't mean to just give this to people from the UK, if you know how frequent thunderstorms are over in the UK from experience, then you're more than welcome to answer. Haha.

Thunderstorms don't happen very often, but you could go outside during rainstorms and throw **** around to make thundernoises. And get your neighbours to take pictures from their windows (for Facebook, plus the flashes will be like lightning). Also, it depends when you visited the UK, because our thunderstorms season falls in the gap between January and February. So maybe you just slept right through it. You gotta be vigilant for these things, miss.

unfortunately thunderstorms are a bit of a rare event (i love them too) we get them about once or twice a month in summer and not enough for me to even remember in winter. they are really short as well. plenty of rain though! (im sure you'll learn to love it)

tomcostigan
we rarely get thunderstorms, because we don't have tropical weather at all. It does rain a lot though and is also cloudy, quite similar to Seattle USA.

May I suggest perhaps that you might tell people where you're from in either another question or preferably in your About me Profile which like a lot people on here you've put nothing in it yet?

I'm from the UK and we get thunderstorms sometimes - humdingers some of them - we also get the occasional mini-tornadoes and very occasionally earthquakes - yes you heard me right earthquakes; but like you said we mainly just get rain and does it f.ckng rain over here or what - we've had a lot of flooding over here recently - WHERE ARE YOU FROM?!!!!

Kayla
I'm from Sweden and we have loads of thunderstorms. Now I live in the UK and you never really see them here. If you do there may be ONE lightning and ONE little thunder and that's it. Sorry... All you see here is rain and clouds. What I miss the most from home is seeing a blue sky. That's very rare as well...

Sadly they don't get many thunderstorm. Not like here in Arizona were it is common place. But I hear ya. That is one of the thing I am going to miss also

Joonski
I'm guessing you're from Arizona?
Just a guess.

I'm currently living in Washington,
moved from California, and here we have
average of 320 dark/ rainy days a year,
and the weather IS a killer.
made Seattle one of the
most suicidal city of America.

When you move to England
You will miss the weather of
your current place very very much :(

England is similar to Washington
and yes there are thunderstorms
in summer.

english weather has alot of rain and thunderstorms so dont worry about a thing...and yes i am from the UK im not just talking out of my @$$

athiest opethian
pretty much all you get in england is drizzle and clouds. i lived there for a while then my family moved to Australia. i live near Sydney and we dont get too many thunderstorms in winter, but boy, summer is fun!! and the further up north you go the better, until you start getting hurricanes, they arent so fun when your house gets blown away...

The happiest day of my life was the day I left England. I like thunderstorms myself, but most other places in the world have them so you don't have to worry about never seeing them. What you won't miss is that constant drizzle for days on end, and the endless months of bleak, dreary gray skies.
