I have a Sunderland /South Shields accent, but have lived in Spain for years now, so some words come out quite funny like ya knaa worra mean like?
For instance, in English if I wanted to say "Have you taken the spade from my garden", it would come out like;
"Thoo hezznt chunned that scyoop outa my yerd tho, hez tha?"
Its locally know as a 'Mackem' accent, as Geordies and Mackems sound totally different,even though the proximity is close. Mackems are called that because we say 'mak' instead of 'make' and 'tak' instead of take! |

Got a weird one and no one can ever get it?? Most say it's Brummie but a Brummie would say NO WAY!!
Not even sure myself as i'm linguistically impressionable and things stick with me! Lived in Australia for a year and still use some of their twang!!
So have i at all answered your Q...? |
