Without a doubt,it would have to be the civilised U.K.We have genuine culture, not gun, drug and hot dog culture,I mean real culture. We have houses still lived in and built before america was even invented (I use the word invented advisedly)We have language skills that you people can only aspire to.No,with it's few faults,it is still the U.K for me. |

I'd like to live wherever my family live. The US is a great place
to visit, friendly people and great prices on goods. |

I'm not sure it's true to say that most of us hate America but a lot of us hate what's sometimes done in the name of the American way. Policy (or lack of it) regarding pollution and legal gun ownership (for pitys' sake realise what you're dealing with here) are but two. But what annoys a lot of us here is that we seem to rush to take your 'culture' on board, rapidly becoming a Little America, and do wonder just how much of ours is adopted over there. We know the answer to that one of course. So I think that I'll stay here and let you take over here, that way I can keep my house and friends. |

definitely the UK, without a doubt. I've been to the US about 11 times and my Girlfriend is even American, but i prefer the UK so much more. So much more history, culture and it's my home and i couldn't imagine living anywhere else, even if we do have our problems.
but to query your obvious anger to the above posters statement about the US being cheap. Well for us Brits it is. Our Currency is alot stronger than yours, and when we exchange our money to yours we basically double what we have. Also Living costs for the US will be alot cheaper compared to the UK which is nicknamed "rip off Britain" because it is so damn expensive to live here.
Trust me, compared to the UK, the US is cheap. |

I'm Swedish but I've lived in both US and UK but I would have to pick UK due to the fact that they are more cultured, less religious and have better humour. Nothing can beat the weather in San Diego though where I used to live |

Most of you are probably nice, polite and cheerful people. Biggest problem is we in the U.K. only really get negative reports. Huge hurricane thousands dead and homeless. Gang wars and riots. Twenty years to elect a leader. I'm sure there are negative things about the U.K. that you hear. Mostly crap weather i imagine and queueing up for everything. Only thing that really puts me off is the gun culture. I know every man has a right to bear arms but that don't mean you have to have one. When you are president and you ban guns i will come and live next door to you. |

The UK! I don't hate America or Americans at all, but I couldn't cope with your culture/the way you live. The religion for starters - the purity ring fad is ridiculous. Look at what Jordin Sparks said at the VMAs - if you don't wear one, you're a slut. I couldn't cope with being a teenager and being judged all the time.
We have more a sarcastic, dry humour. You guys have more slapstick, loud comedy. I wouldn't be able to live without British comedy.
But I love how patriotic you are. So many British people (*cough* the Scots and Welsh) don't like to be called British because they don't like being associated with England. They have no reason to. America seems united and proud of who they are.
I would point out the gang culture, but the British chavs that are desperate to be American gangsters are making our country just as bad.
Another thing - the obsession with image and weight. You seem to think plastic is fantastic. You have to be size 0, botoxed by 30 with breast implants to be 'really gorgeous'. You have an anorexic and obesity problem at the same time.
But my God I wouldn't miss the weather! Our summer was windy and wet. I'd love to be in CA for a year, just to experience proper weather for a change. All our seasons seem to be the same... |

I lived and worked in California for 20+ years, I became so disillusioned, with the American way of life it was driving me nuts, so I eventually came home to the UK. Not that it is a bad place to live, there are plenty of things to do and see, the weather in California was most agreeable, but the people in LA were?are so damn pretentious it's un bloody believable .
So the Answer to your question is Scotland UK |

i travel to the states every year( The Carolinas). I love it there. The problem is that Americans can be a little over bearing but this is generally in the restaurant/bar business where they depend solely on tips for their income.
There's no place like home.....UK |

I should be doing something else

UK though USA is great.
I am British and I don't hate Americans, but you sound like a complete tw@t.
Oh and yes, compared to the UK the USA is cheap, whether you choose to accept that or not. |

UK. I had the chance to live in America once many years ago. I didn't dislike it there, I just prefer the smaller distances here, the look of the countryside and the proximity to different countries in Europe (and beyond). I am a histiorian, so that has something to do with it too. |

Hm, good question!
I don't like your health care, but I don't like our weather.
I would rather be a teen in America than a teen here in England.
But I'd rather be a grown-up in England than in America. |

I love Americans and I'm British! I haven't got a problem with Americans at all, in fact i find them quite a loveable kind of nationality.
Hhhmm...that's a toughie. I love the UK because it is my home and will always have a special place in my heart, but i'm all for exploring and trying something new so would definitely give it a go living in the USA. It has the potential to be extremely fun :) |

i haven't been to america that much. i went to disney land a bit and the caribbean is nice but i think the extreme weather there would scare me to bits living there!
however i do know a girl who is going to live in america next year and she is really excited (half an hour from a ski resort, who wouldn't be) and one of my friends moved to the caribbean for a year when she was about six, she said it was really nice (and she would like to go back) but VERY hot and she still spells 'colour' the american way.
i think it would be nice to live in america but i would really miss my friends so overall it would have to be UK. |

Hi
I would have to pick the UK, even though everything over there in the US is a bit cheaper (I got a pair of jeans for £12 usually costs me £45 in the UK) I just like the UK, its home, I love London, most my friends and family are in the UK (I have some family in US) but I could never leave although I would like to go travelling for a few years maybe live in US for a few months or so but not make it home.
Hope this helps xxxx |

The UK, it might not be a perfect place to live but I consider it to be a lot safer than the US, why: only a small minority of our population have guns. |

I'd have to stay here (UK).
It's not anything against America, I have lots of friends there who I love and I would like to spend more time there with them, but living...nope.
If I had to live in another country I'd want to go to Australia or New Zealand, maybe Canada. They just get English people more. |

To be honest, all my experiences with Americans in the past have been bad.
They all seemed to fall into the loud, brash, arrogant stereotype.
BUT...
My wife and I were in New York a couple of months ago, and totally fell in love with it.
The place, the people, the lifestyle.
Given the choice, we'd take our kids and move there in a heartbeat.
USA for me. |
