Question for those of you in London

Do you all eat Melba snacks?

Are they popular?

What are popular foods out there?

Who is the most popular entertainer right now?

They dont have Melbas in London let alone any part of England. They just make them here in America and say that they are Londons favorite snack. They do have Walker crisps which are like our Lays chips. Also Jaffa cakes (AMAZING!) and others.

If we knew what a "melba snack" was, we could give you an answer. I''ve never heard of them.

The most popular British entertainer right now is probably a comedian called Peter Kay.

I live in London and i don't even know what a melba snack is all different people eat all different things but in London there is something for every ones taste and budget!

saltwater
Never heard of them...

meat pies and chips... and chicken tikka (depends)

Borris Johnson.

Linda's Brain
I haven't heard of Melba snacks.
Most people go for crisps or tortilla chips, I think, when it comes to snacks.

Indian food is the most popular food in England, but people also eat pasta, chinese food, KFC. English food such as fry ups and roast dinners are popular too, particularly at weekends.

Although invented by Auguste Escoffier at the Savoy hotel London (1), you can't buy Melba snacks in the UK. I think the company is called 'Old London' to appeal to the US market!

Popular foods in London include Fish and chips (much better in coastal towns like Padstow though), Indian food and traditional 'pub' food like sausage and mash.

As for entertainer Duffy is the biggest selling artist of 2008 in the UK (2), but Coldplay will soon surpass that...

Melba snacks? no.

They are not popular, but battenberg cakes are!

What else besides battenberg cakes? salt and vinegar crisps!

probably leona lewis.

What are Melba Snacks? Shows that they aren't that popular, well at least to me!
You can have anything in London, from Italian to Chinese which can both be expensive or cheap just need to look around. For Italian I would go to South Kensington, here there is a small, up market italian that attracts people of the upper class and their families, but is good priced and good quality food, at an average of £10 - £15 per head.
There isn't a main entertainer loads of people have their own tastes but for good entertainment I would look on http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk and search for Comedy or Concerts
Then for great West End Shows and other things go on http://www.lastminute.com/, here they have great seats for the tons of things at cheaper prices.
Hope This Helps

I have lived in London all my life and have worked in central london for around ten years. No idea what a melba snack is! Is it like melba toast?!

Popular foods - people like chocolate or crisps for a treat I guess, but people in general do try to eat well and healthy i.e. us office workers buy fruit, sushi, pre-packaged sandwiches and salads etc (very expensive here though!). I wouldn't say there is any trend in eating here, it's a a very multicultural city so you can get just about any cuisine possible, including all the big fast food chains. Only thing is, it's all very overpriced.

Popular entertainer? Err - no idea. Depends if you means music, TV presenters or something else. Well that Amy Winehouse is never out of the papers so I would say her, although that is not my personal choice of favourite celebrity!

lemm
chocolate is very popular here
