If you are paying them into your account they will take them.
There used to be three different types of scottish £1 note, Clydesdale Bank, Band of scotland and the Royal Bank. Only the Royal Bank continue to issue £1 notes (mainly a nationalistic stance) though they are beginning to become scarce and they are falling out of favour with many people. There were over 21 million £1 notes in circulation in 2001, this is now down to 16 million.
On a banking note scottish bank notes of any denomination are NOT legal tender, not even in scotland. This will not go down well with the indignant and utterly wrong answers given below, but hey, I have done my research, not just spouted a load of tosh!!!

lukee
Yeah no problem - although they are not technically legal tender banks will accept them.

In fact no Scottish notes are legal tender - see http://www.scotbanks.org.uk/legal_tender.php for an explanation

Yes they do

Munki nutz
You can deposit them in the bank and they are legal tender in England, and can be used anywhere

Natwest will accept them. I have noticed that the banks and supermarkets that will accept them are the ones who can recirculate them in Scotland.

Huge
Of course they will take it its legal tender anywhere in Britain even if some people are not aware of that

Of course they should. Scottish money is as good as English money.

Yes of course they will.

Scottish notes are legal tender anywhere in the UK. Although some places south of the border do pull their faces at them, more so the further south you get. The banks simply "repatriate" the notes, sending them back up to Scotland, just as the Scottish banks do the same with English/Welsh notes they collect.

angela b
Yeah their still legal tender

of course a bank will accept them, especially since the Natwest is owned by The Royal Bank of Scotland

Red Trooper
Any bank will accept them.

Scottish 1 pound notes are no longer legal tender in England although you can spend them in Scotland or Northern Ireland. All other Scottish notes are legal tender in England and must be accepted.

Of course they will you idiot, Scotland is in the UK! I'm sick of this sort of ignorance, every time i go to England some places won't take our money, like its not good enough or something! Sorry for being harsh . xxx

Angel
Keep your scottish pounds in scotland, we dont want them in England
