It's digusting, isn't it? Yes, a hefty fine should do the trick! |

Well it is not the gum that is at fault , it is those idiots who think it is fine just to leave it on the pavement , resulting in the mess you describe
The same things happen with dog mess where owners will happily let their pet foul within sight of the bin provided
I would fine all these folks who litter like that , it is disgusting and they have no standards of what is right or wrong . |

yeah but the government would find a way to have a chewing gum tax or something. we'd have to pay taxes to employ people to hand out fines for anyone who spits out chewing gum lol they always find more ways to tax people |

no i love chewing gum!
but i hate the people that spit it on the floor!
i think it shud be banned!
i hate wat it does 2 the floor! |

I think a ban is called for. Mints are better than chewing gum anyway! Our council uses our tax money to employ a very expensive gum removing company. Each bit takes about 5 minutes of powerful machinery to get it off. Still, at least its coming off.
I reckon in 10 years all our pavements will be polka dot! Well they kind of are now! |

Ban chewing gum NOW! |

I definitely agree with fining people for it but not banning it. I chew gum because it's good for teeth but I always through it in the bin. I think it's disgusting people spitting it out. Also they should fine people who gob on the streets as well. |

I agree, it's a disgusting habit. Yes, at first you'd get the 'I've got rights' lot protesting (like '10 out of 10'), just like before the smoking ban. The ban works in parts of the orient (Singapore)...and it could work here too.
You'd have to ban it completely as otherwise you'd have to catch someone actually spitting it out and of course it would be..."It's not mine, I've never seen it before officer."
Antisocial people like Vikki are a real problem..."I want to litter the place so I will, let others clear it up, I pay my council tax."
I wonder what kind of a mess her house is in. |

i think you should get a fine for spiting anything out in the street i also think since ashtray's are no longer available in restaurants we should get gum dishes cos i never know were to put my gum when I'm gonna eat and its not good to swallow it is it |

Yes. Nothing worse than gum-chewing riff-raff. The adults who chew should know better. |

Just think, if everybodys DNA was on file
think of the money the Gov. could rake in,
if a fine was introduced....
but it won't come to that, will it? |

if it cant be banned then it should be made less tacky. at least it could be swept up then. i spose you couldn't really call it gum then though! |

Yes ban it then maybe it will free some of the precious beds and resources from all them chewing gum fatalities in our hospitals.Or maybe we should stop moaning about it and worry about some thing more life threatening. |

i think people should be fined for spitting gum on floor. but do not think people should have it banned going way to far people have they right to chew gum if they want i do all the time but never stick it any where i should not i throw it in bin. i don't like people telling me i should not chew gun because it is a bad habit because its my right. |
|

teeth hoover

No, I enjoy chewing it then spitting it out in the middle of the pavement for people to stand on. Hells teeth i pay enough council tax, so it's up to the council to remove my mess and do something with taxpayers money. |

What, exactly, is the problem? So the pavement is coated in white spots. Consumers of chewing gum may consider it an avant-garde expression of art. Oh look, there goes a piece of litter. Screw that, the real issue is this dormant white spot perching itself on our pavement! |

yes ban it, if you want to live in an undemocratic society. |
