Assuming that all four constituent nations all remain in the European Union upon any potential break-up of the United Kingdom, I can't see there being a whole lot of difference between the present situation and four separate independent nations. There would still be freedom of movement for goods and people between all four nations and money from each of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland would still go to the other three (albeit via the EU).

Oh goodness where have I been I thought it already was with England nearly void of all it's once beautiful landscapes and green and pleasant land.

Where as the rest of the UK have retained the natural beauty because they will not embrace change. How England has been ravaged over the years. And all people can do is call England a dirty place.

Let us get England back so we can control it ourselves and not have other MP's voting and putting their noses in things that are none of their business.

no - scotland and wales would become 3rd world countries and england would become less also - it is a marriage of convenience

the UK should split up, a de-centralized government for England introduced as well, central government is to far removed from the country , local areas can set there own income tax, this would remove the hated community charge at the same time, i live in east Anglia and have very little in common with someone from the north of Scotland or Cornwall, in terms of demographic reasoning.

I wouldn't mind being a seperate nation (in Scotland). At the moment their seems to be a lot of bitterness about the union from all sides. I think if the UK split into its four home nations this would be lessened or maybe even improve the situation. At the end of the day we will always be one island and will always have more in common with each other than the other European countries. So lets split up and just be best of friends rather than stay in a bitter marriage.

I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmoney.....

PS sorry NI, I know you are a different island.

It is split-up. Look out for the fabulous England Football, Rugby and (only sometimes) cricket and other sports teams. Plus the ?others.

As split-up and competitive as ever.

no i don't think that we should split but we should realise that the relationship is evolving all the time . take the national assemblies as an example a generation ago they would never have been seriously considered never mind set up and running

I think we should stay together. However if areas such as northwest, east Anglia and others were allowed to govern more then that would be better than a government in London telling the rest of the country how to spend its money. Moreover I don't know what England Nettie lives in but she obviously has never travelled. England is a beautiful country and that's from a jock

A good idea. Independence for East Anglia so we can enjoy improved public services by not having to subsidise much of the rest on the country.

yes it should split up

The UK is split up, it's split up into England, Scotland, Wales & N. Ireland :-)

To be honest though I don't care either way if the UK does get split up, it's just a case of weighing the reasons to stay or to split & seeing which one comes out on top

Bit like any relationship really :-)
