Unrefrigerated beer, Chicken Tikka Marsala, Branston Pickle, Queueing, comics like The Dandy, Beano and Viz, Sir Ian McKellen's 'Richard III', Noel Coward in 'The Italian Job', Last Night of the Proms and the Sex Pistols...

and above all.....Radio 4,

the best non-music station in the world. Especially...
the Shipping News (I still don't know where North Utsire is) and the Archers theme tune.... which I agree with Billy Connolly should be our national anthem !

Actually what I think is so typical about Britain is there's nothing typical about it... it's a land of contrasts... long may it remain so.... we have more of the top 10 world restaurants than any other country... but have a reputation for the worst food... we drink more champagne per head than the French... but hate to be thought 'posh' or 'poncy' so declare ourselves a beer drinking nation.

We pride ourselves on our manners, but underneath it all we're a warrior race (esp the Celt part) ...which embarrasses us... but we're proud of it at the same time.

You got to love it .... a country as old as time itself and still changing... Long may it stay that way.
