Hmm...tricky one...lack of stuff to do is why most of us run away!
Drinking is good - more pubs per square inch than there are people, adn it also helps you blot out where you are. Cardiff Bay is full of yuppies, but has the new 'Opera House', and if you're less than 12, also a Dr Who exhibition. Also has the Comedy Store which is the National Assembly. Swansea's good - pop down the Gower for the nearest thing Wales has to a proper beach-style coastline. Pop up to Merthyr for Industrial Revolution heritage and the start of the Brecon Mountain Railway. Pop to Cardiff Central Station and protest about who they think they're kidding, doing all the announcements in Welsh first. Pop to Big Pit to experience the crushing depression of being a coal (or indeed noodle) miner. Shop till you drop. Walk the Morlais Heritage Trail and revel in the remains of the Roman Road and Fort. Write poetry. Watch a male-voice choir. Then run, escape, don't look back, cos there's really nothing more to see.

The best just has to be The Museum of Rural Life at St Fagan's, on the outskirts of Cardiff. ( they may have changed it's name to Natural History Museum ).
It is set in the grounds of St Fagan's Castle . There are numerous buildings which have been demolished from all over Wales, then re-constructed in the museum. You will find a tannery, coc* fighting pit, a farm, school, chapel, general stores, saddlery, blacksmith's, woollen mill, water mill, post office, bakehouse and many cottages. The buildings, which you can wander around are furnished . There is also a museum block, shop, restaurant and coffee shop.
The gardens are superb, with greenhouses growing vines, a rose garden and huge lakes stocked with carp.
It is really amazing and is always enjoyed by people of all ages.
Take a look at it's web site I am sure you won't need much persuading.
Have fun.

Visit the Mumbles. It's a beautiful area. Bird/wildlife watching. Walks.
It's somewhere where you can forget all your worries for a while.

I found the museum of welsh heritage near cardiff excellent and free. Not sure if it is the correct title though. I found it the most interesting place in south wales.

You can come and visit me lol.
Depends on what things you like to do,
Quad biking is good fun, We have some great beaches, have castles, have loads of ex mines and heritage parks, have some breath taking walks. The best thing is to either pop into a tourist centre or library where you can pick up leaflets on all sorts.
If you have children Roath park is always good
