Super Hatters

Taking a 13 year old into London today?

On a whim, I said I'd take my son to London today, but we haven't a clue what to do on such short notice. Any suggestions (not shopping, museums or art galleries!)

Thanks

I would suggest the London Eye, the London Aquarium, Madam Tussauds, the london Dungeon, or watch a film at the IMax cinema. Hope this helps!

There's some info here that might be helpful: http://www.londontoolkit.com/whattodo/londondungeon.htm

London eye if not too busy, shouldn't be this time of year.
Madame tousauds is a rip off, was very disappointed.
Use the tube, get a tube map and oyster card each and explore.
There is a huge amount to do throughout london.

The science museum, it's not like a normal museum, it's interactive, so it's much more fun.

London Eye although not if the weathers bad - no view!.
London Aquarium (next to Eye). My kids loved it in there.

London is so expensive that they would charge you to breathe if they could meter it.

The Zoo. Hyde Park and Regents Park are great for running small children into exhaustion. Ditto Richmond Park.

They might like Kew Gardens, which is useful if you are entering London from the West.

Sunday morning is great for Speakers Corner. The best free entertainment in the whole of London.

Go and try to find Platform 9 and 3/4 at Kings Cross.

The Tower of London for the "blood, you hear me, blood all over him from head to foot" school of Historical pedagogy.

The London Assembly or Parliament if you have a good relationship with your MP.

If the Globe were open, or the Proms were in season I'd suggest that.

The Royal Observatory at Greenwich - literally "let me ride to the place where the West commences".

Take a look around what will become the Olympic Zone in East London.

Zoo then..

what is left to do, without money in london your in a deadpool, without culture your nowhere, without art, your uninteresting, how can you have day out in london without there 3 things, you could sit on a bench in travalger square, or if these 3 things your trying to avoid try going to milton keynes for a day out, is this really a serious question, everything in london costs, even the parks at times.

London dungeons, madame tussauds, london eye, watch a show.
You said not a museum but the Natural History Museum is full of things like a giant replica whale, dinosaur bones and you get to walk around the inside of a replica human body with lots of interactive games. Its really good fun for a 13 year old and best of all its free!
