They are feckin parasites.Nothing more. Why should people working in the U.K. pay for the buggers' privileged life style? They are akin to a bunch of crooks.Tourists' money,as one answerer said?Don't give us that crap, because Glasgow's Burrell Collection was reputed to be bringing in more tourists' dollars at one point. And how do you judge that anyway? What, tourists come to the U.K.,and spend a fortune in Lochinver because they came to see the queen. And as for Great Britain as a whole xx_cc_cc,I think the two of us are tired of it being as a whole.I want it to be several different countries, ours being one of them,I don't give a fluk how many countries those foreigners divide England into. And I want a republic,no more of this aristocratic, born into it,thick as mince crap. Can I get the ten points please? |

Hi
Don't go down that road, the bureaucrats in Brussels can't wait for us to get rid of them, God knows how they try.

The vast majority of the cost of maintaining the Royals is met by them. Quite apart from the millions who visit the country because of them and all the jobs and profits those visitors bring to British tourism, the Royal family in visiting many countries of the world encourage those countries to buy goods and services from British companies. Then there is the huge amount of charitable work undertaken by individual members of the Royal Family. Whether it be the international charity 'Save the Children' for which the work of Princess Anne has raised hundreds of millions. or Prince Charles' 'Princes
Trust' which as done extraordinary work helping young people
to educate and train themselves and has rescued many from lives of poverty and criminality. Indeed Charles epitomizes modernity and progress in his views on architecture and town planning and his devout following of organic farming on his estate. As for the pomp, ceremony and parades, they may look a little old fashioned on the surface, but they bring colour and splendour to an increasingly dour Britain. Can you imagine the awfulness of the Presidents who might be elected if there was no Royal Family? - excremental ex prime ministers like Thatcher or Blair or semi illiterate footballers. |

You know in the summer when you see all those Japanese and American tourists. You know, the ones with all the cameras round their necks. You know the ones that spend millions in dollars and yen.I wonder who they have come to see?Certainly not me. |

No. They are great for tourism. IMHO Britain wouldn't be Britain without them. |

IN my opinion yes it's a waste of space and tax payers money. The people who support the royals can only use one reason for them they bring tourism into the country. Are they ever around to greet the tourists?? If it was up to me I would abolish the monarchy. |

Monarchists say that the royals bring in a lot of tourist money. I don't believe it. It's not as if every tourist goes and has tea with Lizzy.
On the plus side they sell a lot of tabloid papers with their shenanigans
Being realistic, the whole basis for royalty is that god put them here to rule over us. As an atheist I have a big problem with this. The whole idea is an insult to humanity. |

'The answer is a personal one. Look to see how their daily lives in terms of their comings and goings' affect your life on a daily basis. If you are not affected in one way, shape or form, then ...... |

I will go with what David S says without having to write it all out myself...Its a generation thing...the older generation admire the Queen for all she has done and the continues to do....she made an Oath to serve the people and this she has done. But I accept many of us are in a minority now...Its strange how the Queen is loved in many foreign countries more than she is here....a sad state of affairs....I know lets have a President like Bush or Blair or Brown...or let Europe rule us....no thanks. |

More than a waste of space I think they are a waste of tax payers money. Think of all the hospitals, schools, roads, airports, etc. that could be built with the millions and millions that they cost to keep. |

I think royal families in general are a waste. The royal bloodline is another way to control and to isolate humanity. Royal families and Hillbillies are the same. They both intermarry and fight about really stupid things. So, what is going to happen with the so called Royal families in the future? They will be cracked in the head and eventually extinct, if they continue to intermarry. Keeping the bloodlines pure? My A**!!! |

Absolutely. A leftover from the days of feudalism. One day the British people will be courageous enough to have a fully democratic society and elect their own Head of State |

Us Brits have to have somewhere to store our blue blood with all the migrants that come here. |
