I lived in Paisley. My stay there was soo disheartening, had to leave the Uni there, and everything! Heroin Junkies lined the streets. I couldn't walk up it, without being called a fat-*****, 'goth'. And I was also threatened to 'be chibbed'. Mainly because my skin is naturally white, I prefer dark clothes and I don't sun-bed it like all the faux oompalumpahs in their tracksuits do. Pregnant teeny-boppers hanging out of their windows, shouting names at passersby. Round the corner, your house would be oddballed- if there wasn't a window poked in. :) Only thing nice about the place was the cobbled streets and the occasional saving grace of the architecture! :) (For the buildings that were left in tact). Thank god, I'm no longer there. |

Margate must be among the worst places I have visited. It's so tacky and full of chavs. The town centre is full of pound shops and empty shops and it feels really threatening.
Its also full of aged drunks and druggies. Sad really because there are some beutiful houses and it could be a lovely place - if they got rid of the people who ruin it!
I don't think any place is bad. It is the people who make the place. |

Teesside town Middlesbrough may have been declared the worst place to live, and Edinburgh the best, but what about the public vote? Over the past few weeks thousands of people have rated the UK's hundreds of boroughs, so take a look at the ratings table to see where your area ranks in this most public of polls. |

Croydon - what a hole! Shootings are virtually weekly now.
Leytonstone is a close second for my worst place, the people are so rude. |

Aberystwth, on the coast of Wales. I was at a motorcycle rally in mid Wales and that was the target of the Saturday run-out... great ride, twisty roads and beautiful scenery, the Devils Bridge has a wonderful waterfall... then we arrived in Aberystwth.
It was like arriving at a Communist seaside resort, complete with Concrete buildings, run down and seedy shops and a few dodgy over-sized statues... possibly of Lenin but more likely local dignitaries.
Loved the countryside, recommend that to anyone but be warned... unless they've torn it down and rebuilt it i wouldn't go back. |

I take it you live in Hull? Those surveys are supposed to be humorous and don't make any sense anyway, Crap Towns listed Oxford, Windsor and St John's Wood for God's sake!
Worst place I've been is Deptford, South London. I used to live nearby and found the poverty and alienation of the community there caused by the expansion of the City quite depressing. Don't think I'll go back in a hurry. |

Apart from my personal hellhole, Kidbrooke was a bizarre place when I drove through once. Hostile or WHAT?? |

Boscombe, near Bournemouth. It is one of the most deprived areas in the country. Drug addicts and alcoholics a rife there. |

I've got you all beat. Grimsby is a dump. I was born there and left as soon as I could and I rarely go back. Some great people there but the place is a dive and some parts are like Compton in LA. Actually Cleethorpes and Mablethorpe are pretty crap too. The worst name though goes to Bognor Regis - yuck! |

I would have to say the worse place was where I felt vulnerable and that was Derby - I felt threatened and could not wait to get out, we only went for a day and never went back. Luton does not fair too high either. I used to live just outside Coventry - hey now I am in Ireland. Tells you something eh? |
