Hello Jeff...Any reason why you prefer central london as opposed to any other part of london

Hi Jeff
The UK is very expensive, especially in London. However, if you are interested in the city sights, a company called "The Big Bus Company" sell tickets that last for 24 hour. These tickets allow you to travel on their buses getting off and hopping on around the city. In 2004 they also offered a free Thames cruise which took my wife and I to Greenwich and back again. The tickets were sold and touted on street corners and other places so are quite easy to procure. I really enjoyed the live commentary and felt I had a good handle on London and its history after the 24 hours. This way you can also get to see where other touristy spots are and come back to them after. There were also other bus companies offering similar tours, so competition is fierce (I bargained and got a 20% discount). For what you spend it is certainly worthwhile.

If you wish to visit Stonehenge, my wife and I found it cheaper buying a return trip on the train from Waterloo Station to Salisbury and then a bus to and from Stonehenge. The train ride through the English countryside was great and visiting this ancient place of worship was very humbling. My third advice is if you are on a budget we found it cheaper eating at the markets in Camden Town. Shopping at the local Sainsbury supermarket certainly helps the budget. You can then have snacks in your hotel room without dining in expensive restaurants and also prepare lunch for the next days adventure.
All the Best.

Depends how long you are ther for.
River cruises from Westminster pier to greenwich via the thames barrier are an excellent idea allowing you to see many of the sights in one hit, break for lunch at greenwich then return by boat to westminster with its abbey the houses of Parliament. If you've more than a day than the museums are a must but the baot trip is probably the most memorable single item for any itinerary.

visit the london dungeon, have a trip to harrods and drool over the food hall, visit buckingham palace and feel the vibe in the church of st martins in the fields.. its haunted!!
goto oxford street, convent garden... loads to do...
ps: if you get time, go a little westwards, and walk from Twickenham to Richmond along the towpath... also, you must visit Kew and The Gardens.... and although not london, take a Evening trip to Windsor castle.. Enchanting......
