To everybody witha British Accent...?

What do Northern American accents sound like to you?

Do you like them, hate them, not really care about them?

Thanks!

Ironic-dont-ya-think
what exactly is a british accent?

You are aware that everyone in Britain has a different accent.

Im from Scotland in Britain - and sound completely different to someone from London for example.

Thats very stereotypical.

British, living in the UK, don't know what you sound like, don't care. Does that help?

i love all accents of people who are native english speakers irish scottish welsh american you get the picture.

Geoff
I like American accents... but their users do tend to be rather loud....you will always know if there is an American in a crowded room because you will hear them over everyone else...sorry!

bilbobagsend
love em i like most unusual accents i australian spoke like i was born in england, love new zealanders speaking, many differences all good

?
my sis in law has a british accent, she thinks we sound tacky (we as in american haha)

daveinbrid
I don't really know what you mean here. Maybe are they gutteral, harsh, sweet, smooth?
To me an accent is an accent and I only differentiate between them in the quest for an answer to where people come from. I am able to differentiate between northern and southern American accents, but that is not to say that I prefer either.
By the way, I am English and I have a northern accent.

I like the southern ones. they have a poetic drawn out way of talking sometimes. Also the old mississippi black guys who sound like they're singing even when they are'nt.

Plus ball breaking 'noo yawkers' make me laugh

Dreamy
I like mimicing them. Just kidding they're cool. I guess everyone is cool cuz everyone has a different accent.

American accents seem to be different in different States its the same with the British accents, Scotland, England Ireland Wales. American accents dont bother me

hey, J!ll, there are many different British accents &there are also many different N American accents

you wouldn't mistake someone from Mississippi as being from Boston, or from the Bronx, would you?

Simplyiinlove♥
i've never thought about that. i really wanna know. i'm american and want to know what british people think. lol i love them

David H
I'm married to a Minnesotan, so love some American accents, I find the Southern accents amusing, especially if kept to a whisper.

Dan D
Um it can sometimes be a very winey annoying sound, especially with teengage girls when they constantly say, "like" and "oh my god!" and make every sentence sound like a question by raising the pitch at the end of a sentence

XOXO
Well i don't really know cause almost everyone has an accent.
But it does sound kind of weird. I'm not really used to it that's why but when you do get used to it you will learn to respect it and plus we sound wayy cooloer with our british accent:)

I like them.

But I tend to like the Southern State accents more for some reason.

Some of them *cough cough* southerners, are very annoying. I have lived in America for a year, and all I get are funny stares. Some of them are tolerable, though.

To be honest the Southern drawl is not nice

and the accents in the North of England are much worse
(infact the ones in Somerset and Cornwall are not too good either)

PS Thanks SIMPLYIINLOVE :-)

Some are terrible, like those from the South. They don't pronounce 't' well, use a 'd' instead. But you guys are still learning to speak English. Keep trying and one day you may get it right.
