what exactly is a british accent?
You are aware that everyone in Britain has a different accent.
Im from Scotland in Britain - and sound completely different to someone from London for example.
Thats very stereotypical. |

British, living in the UK, don't know what you sound like, don't care. Does that help? |

I like American accents... but their users do tend to be rather loud....you will always know if there is an American in a crowded room because you will hear them over everyone else...sorry! |

I don't really know what you mean here. Maybe are they gutteral, harsh, sweet, smooth?
To me an accent is an accent and I only differentiate between them in the quest for an answer to where people come from. I am able to differentiate between northern and southern American accents, but that is not to say that I prefer either.
By the way, I am English and I have a northern accent. |

I like the southern ones. they have a poetic drawn out way of talking sometimes. Also the old mississippi black guys who sound like they're singing even when they are'nt.
Plus ball breaking 'noo yawkers' make me laugh |

I'm married to a Minnesotan, so love some American accents, I find the Southern accents amusing, especially if kept to a whisper. |

Um it can sometimes be a very winey annoying sound, especially with teengage girls when they constantly say, "like" and "oh my god!" and make every sentence sound like a question by raising the pitch at the end of a sentence |

Well i don't really know cause almost everyone has an accent.
But it does sound kind of weird. I'm not really used to it that's why but when you do get used to it you will learn to respect it and plus we sound wayy cooloer with our british accent:) |

Some of them *cough cough* southerners, are very annoying. I have lived in America for a year, and all I get are funny stares. Some of them are tolerable, though. |

To be honest the Southern drawl is not nice
and the accents in the North of England are much worse
(infact the ones in Somerset and Cornwall are not too good either)
PS Thanks SIMPLYIINLOVE :-) |

Some are terrible, like those from the South. They don't pronounce 't' well, use a 'd' instead. But you guys are still learning to speak English. Keep trying and one day you may get it right. |
