Yes. However, services have not yet full resumed - they are doing maintenance checks on the lines before they are brought back in to service. |

Rover, you've got your facts wrong...unless you're deliberately trying to distort things.
Ken's been publicly slagging off the strikers since day 1, and he's issued no such thing, either in writing or verbally. Its the management of TfL, not the Mayor, who have been negotiating with the RMT.
Can you imagine Boris Johnson dealing with this? "Oh. the "tube"..ahh, yes. I saw a picture of that in a book once." |

Just been to London. Yes it has, however mst of the lines are suspended due to the strike called off in the early morning and the early shift being asleep. |

Next weeks strike is still "ON". Ken Livingston and Bob Kiley have done this on purpose. The Union had accepted a "new" offer of guarantee. The Union has an official letter outlining that jobs, sick pay and pensions etc. will remain "after any Administration period" and the original offer of a guarantee (which caused the strikes) "only whilst in Administration" are totally different offers. Ken Livingston and Bob Kiley have publicly announced that the Union has accepted the original offer and with no changes to that offer. Therefore, Ken Livingston and Bob Kiley have tried to blame the Union for the original breakdown of talks. They have attempted to make it appear that the Union's members only went on strike for the sake of striking and nothing else. This has angered the Union and it's members and they are going to continue with next weeks strike in response to Livingston and Kiley's statements. Sadly, the strikes are going to disrupt thousands of Ethiopians and Rastafarians that will be trying to get to Ethiopian Millenium celebrations, which was probably Ken Livingston's intention anyway. Livingston still has a two faced attitude just as he had in the days of "Red Ken". He will stir trouble and then become a hero by sorting it. He created these strikes and has done nothing but anger the Union members since the threat was first imposed. Why didn't he make the same guarantees weeks ago when the Union first announced that they were going to have a vote for strike action? Because if Red Ken had given assurances then there would have been no strike and he would not gain any votes for his next election. It's because there was finally an agreement made that the strike got suspended and it appears that Bob Crowe was using a bit of intelligence by not cancelling the strike. He didn't trust Red Ken and in less than one hour, Red Ken threw the agreement back in the faces of the Union members. Livingston is claiming that no changes have been made, therefore the Assurance that was given and agreed upon does not apply as Livingston is claiming that the original offer is agreed upon. To be honest, if I was Bob Crowe, I would have my members voting for an "indefinite" strike after what Livingston has done and said. |

yes, but there expected to be delays on all lines for the rest of the day. Victoria Line opened a limited service at 7am this morning. The Unions are planning further action for next week, despite Ken Livingston's written assurance that all their demands will be met... |

The RMT have called off their strike for this week, but next weeks three day strike goes ahead.
The RMT have political reasons for continuing their strike action and it is to return the entire UK railway network back to the public sector.
Could be a long hard slog with lots of strikes. Would not be surprised if there's a big one in the immediate run-up to Christmas.
Just don't hold your breath.

BBC NEWS | England | London | Union agrees to end Tube strike Union officials agree to suspend the strike which has crippled London's Tube ... A spokesman for TfL said: "We are pleased the RMT has suspended its strike ...
http://www.news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6977778.stm
Please note that the RMT leadership have only 'suspended their Union's strike'. The RMT membership voted 90% + in favour of strike action. The strike continues next week with a further three days of industrial action.
Meanwhile the RMT Scotland have broken away from the Labour Party - not sure if this is a final farewell, but it would not surprise me. Labour is increasingly becoming ignorant and less interested in 'socialist ideals' and more interested in big biz, just like the Tories really.
Labour had better get it's act together, the TUC may find itself acting onbehalf of the Labour Movement to remove from the Labour Pary and not pay Labour's outstanding debts of some £20million.
As a lifelong Socialist the Modern or New Labour party does not represent my Socialist Methodist beliefs. I support the membership and leaders of the RMT, right up to the hilt.
Keep striking until Labour get it right. Re-Nationalise the UK Railway network - welcome back British Rail. |
