I live in the UK and we don't get ours til after midday either. It's a pain in th @rse cos I go to work in the morning at 6am and have my lunch at 12 so usually nip home to check the post and it's not always been by then. Annoying when you then come home later on only to find something that you could have dealt with that afternoon.
Seems like they are still on strike to me! |

The service has got worse as mail volumes have increased.
Having said that my local postie is a good bloke and I know its not down to him. |

Your mail arrives late these days because postal workers jobs have changed. The postman used to start his work at 5.00am, he now starts at 6.15-7.00am.(the management wanted later starts so they could stop paying the early morning supplements.) The postman when he/she arrives at work no longer starts sorting out his own walk/round. The first job to be done is to process all the incoming mail, this takes about 1hr 30Min's. (this used to be handled by night sorting staff, but cut backs have done away with their jobs.) Once the main sorting is done then the postie can start prepping his own duty. He will leave the delivery office at between 9.30-10.00am. His delivery will take about 3.30-4.00hrs to deliver,so it depends where your house is located on his round, what time you get your mail. A postman that starts work at 6.15am is contracted to finish work at 2.15pm. If however your mail is delivered after this time , then the postman delivering is probably covering another duty on overtime. I hope this explains the procedure to you. |

My mail arrives before 7am but I am sure that's due to the fact that I live about 100 yards from the sorting office. The mail service is really going down hill, and you can never rely on it. |

My postie turns up around 11.00 am which is a novelty for me as our last one was so random with the delivery times .We would ever get mail before 12.00 noon and there were many occassions when we would get it after 4.30 pm which to me was poor. |

Anything between 7am and 3pm, and I live in a highly populated place with lots of sorting offices. Its a lottery but usually it all comes eventually! |

Most first class mail sent to me in North West London (including mail from Scotland) arrives on the next working day
after being posted, and my delivery is at about 10am. However, during a series of postal disputes last year mail was exremely slow to arrive, sometimes taking weeks to arrive. For about one year, mainly during 2006 I received a great deal of mail for other addresses too which had to be re-posted. The Post Office has gone through a long period of upheaval as it comes to terms with a world where use of its services are diminishing
with the huge use of email technology ,and it faces competition from private postal carriers too; many staff have been made redundant and there have been obvious organisational issues too. Let us hope the smoothe efficient service I am experiencing now will last; for most of my life it has provided an excellent service. |

Yes that is normal my hubby is a suffering postie. They are now not allowed to leave the office before 0915 and they are doing longer and longer deliverys its allabout cuts cuts cuts to make more money for the top dogs leighton and crozier. They get moaned at and if many are off sick get called in and given a warning. Spare a thought for your postie out in all weathers. Its not there fault blame the bosses for changing their hours. Also the stopping of second delivery as they now have to wait for all the mail that has been sent to the wrong place to come in and get out. My hubby leaves the house at 0530 and is rarely home till 1.30 or 2. He has even walked in the door as I leave to get our son from school. They are expected to cover other deliverys if someone is stick as well and any overtime claimed is frowned upon. If you are that bothered about it arrange to collect at your delivery office instead. |

I get it daily about 9.30ish. I think the service could be improved. When I send mail it is always received later than expected. |
