They tend to go a little OTT with weather warnings, after an incident a few years ago when they predicted bad weather, but didn't really explain how bad,and a lot of people ended up dying because they didn't evaquate properly, and the weather people got the blame for it.
I can't remember the exact incident or year, but since then, they've always seemed to say things are going to be a little worse than they really are,to cover themselves.

Anyway,i'm in the North West of England (Manchester) and it's quite windy here. The sky is blue and the sun is out a little, but it's chilly outside!

ya the winds are worst

Beautiful in the Isle of Man too, and we are in the middle of the Irish Sea, so where this storm is coming from I don't know, no signs of it yet........

The UK is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland altogether,

Not all of the UK will have these bad winds,
England & Wales.

It's not supposed to be starting until early tomorrow morning, so we've got about twelve hours to go. Of course, if they're as accurate about the storms as they were with the snow last week we've got nothing to worry about ! ! !

rapunzel
it's stating to get windy but still sunny in sw England

Still sunny (2.55 pm) in the Midlands, but we always expect wind at this time of year - the old "March Winds, April Showers, bring forth May flowers" and "March comes in like a lion, and goes out like a lamb".

pidgeon!
blue skies here in colchester! i dont reckon we'll get much wind anyway.

fiona
In southern Scotland, we have ALREADY had TWO WORSE storms this winter. Winds above 80mph happen most winters. But, as usual, when the wind gets above 50mph, England panics and it hits the headlines as if it is something exceptional. It is about time that the English snivellers grew up and learnt to cope with the weather. As it happens, it looks as if the worse of this particular storm will by-pass Scotland.

With British weather you can have four seasons in one day. I think we are in Summer now, Spring will be along around 6 and Winter will make an appearance at around 10. :)
