Uk Petrol prices?

Okay, we all know we pay to much for fuel but why in east sussex do i pay a lot more (at least 5p) than people in Buckinghamshire. In a local shell station it is 96.9. This is both from shell stations. How much do you folks pay. Why am i guessing that up north i will be a lot lower?

Take a look at http://www.whatprice.co.uk/petrol-prices/filling-stations.html

You can type in your postcode and find out the price of petrol at any station in the UK. It looks like it relies on people submitting pricing data however

Also the average price of Unleaded is around 94p. For me in Cambridge it is more like 97p

freddiem
We are paying the same as you back here in Norfolk, you will find it is generally dearer in country areas as there is less competition. An independently owned garage will not be able to buy from a wholesaler as cheaply as a chain hence the difference in prices.

Boiled Egg
My local Shell charges similar prices, Ipswich, Suffolk.

At a shell station in banbury its 94.4

It depends on what area you live in. If you live in an upmarket area the fuel will cost more because people will pay it. In poorer areas the petrol will be cheaper.

If you lived in a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere it will be dearer due to the transportation cost of getting it there in the first place.

Jimbo
The fuel prices (unleaded) vary up here in Merseyside from 97.09p a litre in the privte stations to as little as 91.09p in the Shell stations if we kept to the cheaper ones the others would have to bring their price down but we are foiled in this boycott of high price fuel by the "company fuel card" users who don't care what they pay.

Bio Hazard
Cumbria the border city, 95.7p,,, it not less up here..

I live 8 miles from the BP refinery at Grangemouth. I pay 94.9 unleaded. Here's a strange one for you, there is a filling station at the front of the refinery and it has one of the most expensive petrol prices in Scotland.

I live in Ellesmere Port (North West) about 5 mins from the big Shell refinery and at all the local shell's and supermarkets, its 94.9p. Although 20mins down the road in Queensferry, North wales, its 91.9p at Asda!

Gareth S
at my local Morisson's in Weston super Mare, i can get it for 90.5p a litre! (unleaded)

Phil McCracken
I think you are guessing incorrectly. Here in Wigan we pay similar prices to you. The prices of petrol are not truly regional, they are very localised, and vary from one retailer to the next.

wonderingstar
london, morrisons near camden lock, 93.9 per litre

Watford 92.8 per litre

prices vary in these areas, but they are the cheapest i use.

Scott
they figure how much the general population will pay in that area without complaining too much.

same thing goes for any area of the world, i think.
