I don't think that anyone can really say that any country is better than another. The UK has lots of great things that the US will never have, and the US has lots of great things the UK will never have.
The UK is an ancient country with phenomenal history, architecture, culture etc but this long history tends to make the British people more naturally cynical (not always a bad thing) . The US is still a very young and vibrant country with a tangible sense of optimism in its people, which I find uplifting, but sometimes can seem arrogant.
Geographically, the US is huge compared to the UK, and has natural wonders that the UK can't match, but the UK's small size makes it seem more accessible and homely as far as i'm concerned.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to where you call home. |

Both countries have attributes which are better than the other, and you could debate this question endlessly, there is no 'right' answer only different opinion.
The UK is better in that its milk actually tastes like it has been somewhere near a cow, the post (until recently) arrived at a time that you could actually do something about what a letter contained.
Although the U.S. does not have a monopoly on producing stupid people, I don't think there is anyone in the UK who are under any illusion about what language is spoken in the U.S. whereas there are many incidents were Americans have been astonished to discover that we in England speak English.
I think the U.S. tends to very insular with many people being ignorant about other countries. Wasn't Sarah Pailin, you know the person running for the 2nd highest job in the country, astonished to discover that Africa is a continent and not a country?
However any country who can send a person to the moon and return them safely is not one to be sniffed at. |

The UK or United Kingdom is a beautiful place. I love the history and countryside.
As an American who has travelled both, I choose the UK.
