This repeat question is getting a little tiresome.
Great Britain is the big island (great in this sense simply means big, the bigger of the 2 large islands). The island of Great Britain contains 3 countries - England, Wales and Scotland.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to give the country its full title (UK for short), is Great Britain, plus the six counties in the historic province of Ulster, on the north eastern part of the island of Ireland. The rest of that island is the independent and sovereign Republic of Ireland, nothing to do with Great Britain or the UK.
Every time this question arises, I find it shocking that so many people from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland give an incorrect answer to it. Ireland is NOT part of the UK, and even less is it part of Great Britain. British overseas territories are not part of Britain or the UK. England and Britain are not synonymous. England by definition is British, but Britsh is not necessarily English. |

England is one of the parts of the country, of which the full name is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"
United Kingdom, or UK is what it is normally called.
