It's as safe as any other means of transport. It gets a bit crowded during the rush hours. Your property is your responsibility, so keep cash, wallets, passport etc somewhere secure, an inside pocket is best.
Don't fuss about 7/7, if you let things like that worry you you will never "live". If they happen, they happen. |

Just take the usual precautions and you'll be fine. I've known people be pick pocketed so keep your belongings close to your person. You might also be approached by beggars or people trying to sell on part used travel cards but they are fairly harmless. |

Safe enough mate, but i would check that you can actually get on a tube at 5am before you set off. |

Its as safe as anywhere, by 5.00am there's people about and the same for the evening. I wouldn't worry, i have travelled at those times and never had a problem. |

The tube is very safe - much safer than night buses. |

Its fine. I have been taking the tube at random times for 10 years and nothing bad has ever happened. Wrong time, wrong place kind of thing applies like everything in life. Enjoy! |

After New york you'll wonder why there is this fuss about London. !0-15 years ago in was a different story.
Don't worry about London at 05:00, most of the trouble will be out of it. Most people you'll see will be people heading to work. mail men, cleaners catering staff etc.
The other pain at this time is the lack of facilities, you'll be able to get a paper and coffee but don't expect a lot away from the station, which will be EXPENSIVE. As much as $6 for coffee. And depending on the day up to $4 for a paper.
Different story 08:30-09:00 the main stations will be heaving with those who work and school in London, Several million arrive over the 06:30-09:30 window. |

No problems 5 a.m. and no problems in Central London in any case. Ironically, the self-righteous Guardian Angels, which we used to have from the States, never used to go out of Central London. It's the suburbs, where tube trains can be relatively quiet, that were the problem. I'd say that security has improved greatly over the past 20 years. |

Nothing to worry about at all. |

Being in physical danger on the Underground or national rail system is extremely rare and both rail and Underground is covered by CCTV. The most common problems are with anti social behaviour - beggars, drunks, drugged people etc; this becoming rarer too as station barriers seem to keep the majority out. |

The tube is safe. It doesn't run 24 hours a day and is just starting up at 5.00am. Trains don't usually reach central London until about 5.30am. I suggest you check the Transport for London website:
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/
BTW you do not use inverted commas when talking about the Tube. It's the correct term, not slang. |
