i live in northampton in england and in my opinion i has the nicest people i have ever met, everywhere else i have been just doesnt seem the same. it has a wide range of different areas to live and has lots of attractions, and if youre one for shoes it used to be the main place in europe to get good shoes. :D

That rather depends whether you favour large fast moving cities with plenty of culture like London or whether you'd prefer to live in a small country town where the pace of life is slower and you're close to gorgeous countryside, in which case I'd go for Ludlow in Shropshire, Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire or Wells in Somerset; Henley on Thames although a country town is within commuting range of London.

Leeds or Cornwall.
Leeds is like London. It's located up North and is not as expensive as London. Everything in Leeds is a million times better than London. No Lie.
Cornwall is nice and has a beach and is nothing like Leeds, probably the opposite. Except it's not expensive.

Winchester. Brighton. The Lake District. Cornwall. Traditional and beautiful English towns - check them out before they are completely swamped by Eastern Europeans!

London is very lively, multi cultural, loads to see and do, historically interesting but of course air quality is poor, noise pollution, expensive and in certain areas, dangerous. I've lived here for donkey's years, so should know.
I've also lived in Milton Keynes, very modern, practical but lacks gravitas.
Villages in Kent, Sussex, Gloucester shire are the best.
In the end it depends on where and what you will be working in, commuting time/distance, your budget, coming alone or with family (schools), where if any existing friends are, likelihood to travel back frequently (reasonable distance to airports), town girl or country spirit, garden lover or flat...
Quite a choice, good luck!

Depends what you are looking for. If you like the seaside, go to Plymouth in the South west. If you like history, go to Hastings in the East. If you like big cities and you got the money to back it up, then go to London, Manchester, or Liverpool. If you like cold climate, go to Leeds or Glascow in the North of the UK. If you are looking for just your all around avergae cities, then Bournemouth or Brighton are good choices. If you like farming and country, then you need to find a small local shire village in the countryside. You can't go wrong with Liverpool.....

What are you looking for? What are you trying to get away from in your current place?

Move up north and it's colder, they also have different accents, and some are hard to understand, Southern England has many great towns, clean beaches, cost of living is higher than north in general, but that is relative, because the wages are higher too.

Before I get hate mail, I have nothing personal about Northern people. But here is fact, many Northerners will move south, in the hope of more money, better living conditions, and also the seafront. It's very seldom a southerner will move north.

Okay without doubt, The Cotswolds, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, and the Lake district are all beautiful places, The Norfolk broads are also a great place for a vacation.

The southern coast has much more job opportunity, than all of the places above.

Here is an example, bearing in mind i am British but moved to VA USA four years ago.

Tuson maybe a nice place to visit, and so could be wild and wonderful west Virginia, but the prospects of earning sufficient money to maintain a nice life style are very slim, unless you have a specific skill or trade.

Before you think about moving to England, perhaps a different state would be a better alternative.

I have many skilled friends who live on the south coast of England, they earn decent money compared to most, they exist rather than live.

I came to the USA four years ago with vitually nothing. In that short period of time I own two nice trucks, bought and paid for, I eat out every day of the week, I charge my customers $60 per hour minimum and they are happy to pay it.

$60 is about 30 pounds an hour, I am not smart or clever, I just know,America has opportunity for those who wish to take it.
Lets see what I miss about England.
I miss paying $9 a gallon for gas/ petrol
when I can buy it here for $2.90 I miss paying $40 for a simple meal, when i can eat at a great restaurant here for about $15 I miss paying $10 for a packet of cigarettes when I pay $3 here. I have a three bedroom semi detached house with one bathroom, I could own a mansion here for the same price.

England is a beautiful country, but too expensive.

America, is a great country and the saying is very true, regardless of age, race, sexual gender or religion this country has opportunties for all.

England does have some good things, like the national health service, if you fall ill, you do not pay to see a doctor, if you need medical treatment you do not have to worry about loosing your house in order to pay for surgery.

Every country has good and bad things, but in my own personal opinion, I believe the USA is the best place I have ever been , and I have traveled to many countries and lived in a few too.

I wish you luck, and would advise heading south or south west

Here are a few places that you should be able to live without fear, and find work.

Brighton, Eastbourne, Bournemouth, Plymouth, London, Crawley, Worthing, The county of Surrey has many big companies.
