...what do you like most about the UK?

(in no order of preference, I adore Marmite, Cadbury's, Branston Pickle, cucumber sandwiches & tea, John Cleese, Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Tracy Ullmann, Elton John, fog, cliffs, pubs, darts, Stonehenge, those sexy accents, etc.)

How about you?

(I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California, btw)

bonus points if you know the '70s song in the header lol

Oh wait isn't Led Zeppelin from England, too? I think that band rocks! :)

Oh honey, you're too far south!
Scotland has Billy Connolly, Glencoe, whisky, Edinburgh Festival, Ewan McGregor, Shrek, the Isle of Skye, Tantallon Castle, Glasgow, clean air, ceilidh dancing, men in kilts,
I could go on and on.
Come on over! It's great!

"Well I've never been to Heaven, but I've been to Oklahoma....." (my favorite verse), awesome song, awesome band....I saw TDN at the PNE (Vancouver, British Columbia - where I live) a few years back - they still know how to rock! And now for something completely different - nothing, nobody has made me laugh more than Monty Python (except for maybe George Carlin) and Elton John's "Funeral for a Friend" was one of the first rock songs I fell in love with...so he's pretty cool too! To answer your question (sorry, got carried away reminiscing), seeing as though my taste for music is stuck in the "hippy" era, I'd say their musical talent is what I like most - the best mind-altering, psychedelic rock came from the UK...may Syd Barrett finally rest in peace.

Jas
You're wrong.
The beatles are actually from Finland.

Hm, I live in Ohio.

I like the accents, my boyfriend, my family, Monty Python, and the history. Old stuff = Love.

he's gone
"Never Been to Spain" written by Hoyt Axton, recorded by Three Dog Night, and by Elvis Presley.

In no particular order, except, of course, the Beatles...

The Beatles -- number one band in history in all ways!!!
Fleetwood Mac (epecially the original band, Peter Green, Spencer and company, and the 2nd incarnation with Crhistine McVie and Bob Welsh, and the first few albums with Buckingham and Nicks)
Led Zeppelin
Monty Python and all it's members' works since
Fawlty Towers (worth a separate mention)
The Young Ones
Cliff Richards

and a couple of transplanted Americans who made England home for a bit: Jimi Hendrix and Chrissie Hind

of course there's all the history and countryside

oh, and I just made level three with this answer! 1001 pts.

I love brixton (west indian neighborhood on the outskirts of london), good place for curry goat and to hear reggae blaring. I like riding the tube, fish & chips/donor kabobs/samosas/vindalloo, dance music (I did like rock 30 years ago, but c'mon!), a great church I visited and still watch online Kensington Temple (www.kt.org), speaker's corner on sunday afternoons, the crowded leicester square, tottenham hotspur, tougher parts of town like around victoria station.... london's great!

Hoyt Axton, of course. He also wrote "Joy to the World" on the same album.

I'm a sucker for the accent, my ex was from the Bahamas and was taught by British teachers. She lost it in a year of moving to the states.

And don't forget Nick Drake.

oh please; England is full of people walking around moaning about it and not doing anything about anything.
And yes I can say that I done something about it and got out.
It's a very beautiful country but 90% of the population are just plain miserable.
Please no flames you know I'm right
